Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1868: Chapter 1868: Has It Been Cleaned Up?

“The perfect data was provided by you? Chief of Staff, you’re getting more amusing by the day. Enough, this is all military secret, not convenient to say much over the phone, let’s talk about something else, your kid should be going to which grade after the new year…”

After hearing this message, Hong Mei’s heart was still pounding.

This message must be delivered to Cang Lang, it is her first gift since going undercover, and there will be more and more gifts for Cang Lang in the future.

…………

Hong Mei obtained firsthand information and found an opportunity to find a way to pass it to Hou Zicheng.

She repeatedly urged Hou Zicheng to deliver the message to Cang Lang abroad in the shortest time possible.

Before the Spring Festival, Cang Lang returned from abroad. He sent someone to send a signal to Hong Mei in the name of her family, to arrange a meeting.

Hong Mei changed out of her military uniform, put on civilian clothes, and came out of the army base.

They agreed to meet under the grand avenue bridge.

The cold winter wind was as sharp as a blade, snowflakes fluttered, and hardly anyone appeared in such a place.

It was the perfect spot for their meeting.

Hong Mei approached and found Cang Lang behind a bridge pier under the bridge.

She wore a black coat with a high collar that covered half of her face.

“Hey, it’s nice to see you again, Cang Lang,” Hong Mei said.

“Good job,” Cang Lang immediately affirmed her, “but in the future, when transmitting messages, it’s best if you find a way to deliver them directly to me. The fewer people involved, the better.”

“Did the information leak?” Hong Mei frowned, “I can’t guarantee that. You know a soldier’s movements aren’t free. So, I could only pass it to Boss Hou.”

“The message was leaked during the transmission process. Someone resold it to several parties,” Cang Lang squinted, a hint of murderous intent surfacing.

“Are you saying Hou Zicheng is not trustworthy?” Hong Mei asked.

“He wouldn’t dare harbor any disloyalty. But the guy’s choice of people under him is really poor.”

“Then you should tell Hou Zicheng himself about this.”

“I will naturally talk to him. But you need to be more cautious too.”

“Don’t worry, boss. I’ve been doing intelligence work for years without any issues.”

“I trust you.” Cang Lang nodded, taking a deep breath, “Keep following up. Keep an eye on this line, I will find a way to infiltrate someone into the arsenal.”

“It’s not that easy!” The arsenal is full of elites, not like the army. It was only because she and Gan Tian were twin sisters that she could assume Gan Tian’s identity to sneak in.

“We’ll discuss it later. What I’m worried about is after the information leak, other intelligence organizations and personnel might also become involved, if there’s a big move here, the National Security Bureau will find out. The military is bound to respond.”

Cang Lang was concerned that the intelligence work ahead would become increasingly difficult.

“They’re just getting started. There’s no rush for us, we just need to keep following up slowly, and then close the net when we have results,” Hong Mei said.

“Alright, I trust you.”

“Do you have anything else? If not, I’ll go back to the base,” Hong Mei didn’t dare stay out too long, for fear of someone discovering the clues.

She has to stay long term in the future, so she must proceed with caution at every step.

“Nothing more. You go back early, don’t get discovered,” Cang Lang said.

Hong Mei said goodbye to him and was about to leave.

“Wait,” Cang Lang suddenly called out to her, “I suddenly remembered something, did you take care of Gan Tian properly?”
