Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1685: Chapter 1685: Even a fierce tiger does not eat its cubs

”Tigers do not eat their cubs. Rest assured, when I was recuperating in Dongshan Village, I would occasionally hear Mu Mian and Mu Qiankun arguing. They might have quarreled, but it was clear that Mu Qiankun still dearly loved his daughter. Lin Sheng is his son-in-law, and since Mu Mian is so fond of Lin Sheng, Mu Qiankun wouldn’t harm him,” Qin Jian analyzed.

”But then... what act are they trying to pull off?” An Hao felt that this matter was quite complicated.

”That, I do not know,” Qin Jian squinted his eyes as he spoke, ”but one thing is certain, there are definitely conflicts between Mu Qiankun and Mu Mian! And these conflicts are irreconcilable.”

”What kind of irreconcilable differences can there be between a father and daughter? Could it be that the death of Mu Mian’s mother is related to Mu Qiankun?” An Hao began to analyze in her mind.

”That is unclear. However, I have a feeling that there’s something off with Mu Qiankun,” said Qin Jian.

”How about... calling the police? Let them keep an eye on Mu Qiankun’s whereabouts?” An Hao felt it was necessary, as she always had the suspicion that the person who came for Mu Mian that day was not the butcher at all.

This person clearly seemed like they were from the underworld.

Moreover, although their previous words were ambiguous and unclear, An Hao could vaguely sense that this group of people seemed to have done some bad deeds before.

”I’ll make a trip to the city bureau to check if Mu Qiankun has any criminal record or something. If he doesn’t, I’ll explain the situation and ask them to keep an eye on it.”

”Good. That would be very good,” An Hao smiled.

”I say, you go downstairs and see if the meal is ready, and if not, bring some food up. I’m about to starve to death...”

No sooner had he finished speaking, they heard Zhang Yun shouting from downstairs: ”Dinner’s ready!”

”Let’s go! That’s one less thing for me to worry about,” An Hao said with a beaming smile.

”Let’s go!” Qin Jian bent over and picked up the two little ones, one in each arm, ”Come on, let’s go downstairs to eat! Let’s see what delicious things Grandma has made, and what you two little rascals can have.”

The dinner table was laden with food.

The family gathered around the table for the meal, and Qin Jian ate three bowls of rice before he was full.

”How come you’re so hungry lately?” Zhang Yun, concerned for her son, served him a bowl of soup after he finished his rice.

”There’s a military exercise coming up. It’s being taken very seriously by the military region this time, so the training intensity has increased! Everyone is tired, not just us!” Qin Jian said while sipping his soup.

”This time, it’s a multi-force combined military exercise spanning several military regions. It’s going to be a grand exercise! The location is set at the border of our military region,” Ning Yibin shared some information with his son in advance.

”The border? Why there? The border isn’t exactly close to our location,” Qin Jian felt it was suspicious.

”The troops participating in the exercise have all been selected. It involves coordination among the Navy, Army, and Air Force! Only elite troops qualify to participate. Your brigade has had excellent training results over the past two years! You’ve won quite a few major awards in military competitions,” Ning Yibin elaborated.

”So, we should be very happy about this?” Qin Jian said with a smile.

”You could say that,” Ning Yibin nodded, giving affirmation.

”Which unit is that mysterious troop?”

”Special forces. In a few days, you’ll receive information about this unit. It’s an elite force, a sharp blade cultivated by our military...”
