The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2687: Chapter 2687: Truly Mother and Son (5)

”Absolutely necessary,” said the Empress Dowager with satisfaction, calling over Mrs. Zhuo, ”You handle this personally.” Although Hong Ye wasn’t of age to leave the palace, since she belonged to Kangshou Palace, it still required reporting to Lady Jin, who managed harem affairs.

Mrs. Zhuo was the chief nanny beside the Empress Dowager, and even the Emperor had to show courtesy to her. Her visit to Su Jin was as good as if the Empress Dowager herself went.

Mrs. Zhuo quickly agreed to it.

”Then Xinxin must thank the Empress Dowager,” Yang Ruxin laughed softly, ”But, Empress Dowager, you mustn’t forget to prepare a dowry for Hong Ye. After all, she’s being married off from Kangshou Palace; too modest a dowry would tarnish the Empress Dowager’s reputation.”

”And your betrothal gift shouldn’t be too modest either,” the Empress Dowager retorted, ”A dignified third-rank official must not be looked down upon.”

”I know you’re stingy,” Yang Ruxin pouted, but still took out a cloth bag from her backpack, ”This is the betrothal gift.”

The Empress Dowager frowned.

Mrs. Zhuo hurriedly accepted it and opened it, revealing a Tianshan Snow Lotus.

”You’re really careless,” the Empress Dowager sighed upon seeing it. Such a precious item, only this girl would be so casual about it.

”As long as it’s good for the Empress Dowager’s health, external appearances don’t matter.”

”Alright, I’ll accept it,” the Empress Dowager waved her hand, ”You may leave now; you’ve given me liver pain from aggravation.” Yet, the smile on her lips couldn’t be concealed.

Just at that moment, the announcement was heard from outside: the Emperor has arrived.

Yang Ruxin, who was about to leave, quickly stopped.

”Mother, who dares to upset you?” Emperor Xuanjing strode in grandly and sat beside the Empress Dowager, ”I’ll chop her down.”

Yang Ruxin pursed her lips and glanced at the Empress Dowager, then knelt down to salute.

The Empress Dowager laughed joyously, ”It’s this girl.”

”Tell us, how did you upset the Empress Dowager?” Emperor Xuanjing naturally noticed the Empress Dowager’s unexpectedly good mood, but still pretended to be serious.

”How could I possibly upset the Empress Dowager? I was quite frankly trapped by the Empress Dowager,” Yang Ruxin sighed.

”Really? Tell me, how were you trapped?” Emperor Xuanjing seemed very interested.

Yang Ruxin recounted the situation honestly.

”Hong Ye, this matter is easy to solve, just a word from me,” Emperor Xuanjing immediately swung his hand, ”But, I also want compensation.”

”Ah?” Yang Ruxin’s eyes widened instantly, ”Emperor, you want radishes too?”

”Yes,” Emperor Xuanjing chuckled, ”And double the amount.” Those radishes not only tasted good but seemed to heal ailments; he hadn’t caught a cold even once lately.

”You truly are mother and son.”

”Ha-ha...” The Empress Dowager finally laughed aloud, utterly without regard for her image, ”Of course, I gave birth to him,” feeling extremely proud.

Emperor Xuanjing nodded along.

Yang Ruxin gritted her teeth, ”I obey the order,” then left Kangshou Palace under the joyful gazes of the mother-son duo.

At the palace gate, she encountered Hong Ye returning.

”Greetings, madam.”

”Hong Ye,” Yang Ruxin patted Hong Ye’s shoulder, ”Because of you, I almost got trapped by the Emperor and Empress Dowager, so you must remember my kindness. Take good care of the shop, look after my people, and most importantly, make lots of money.”

Hong Ye was utterly bewildered.

Yang Ruxin didn’t explain further, waved her hand, and left.

Hong Ye scratched her head and then quickly returned to Kangshou Palace, only then understanding what Yang Ruxin had meant, and her eyes grew red with emotion.
