Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 2398: Chapter 2291: My Shoulder Is Yours to Lean On

Qi Siyuan left.

The room quieted down, and Yan Huan let out a deep sigh, feeling an indescribable sense of loss.

“What’s wrong? Feeling upset?” Ji Chuan noticed her unusually quiet demeanor, feeling slightly worried, and reached out to stroke her head. “This isn’t like you! Where did your usual quick wit go?”

“I don’t know.” Yan Huan also didn’t know what was wrong with her; she just couldn’t muster any harsh words in front of Qi Siyuan.

If Ji Chuan hadn’t appeared, she might have agreed to Qi Siyuan.

“Don’t force yourself like this in the future,” Ji Chuan said.

For Qi Siyuan to ask two people in love to persuade each other to give up – how cruel.

As people often say, this is like breaking up a loving couple!

“I’m not forcing myself, I’m just angry at myself! Why did I get this strange illness? I can’t even find out the cause. Because of this illness, I don’t even have the right to choose love!” Yan Huan felt full of sorrow.

In the past, she never considered her illness a burden. If the worst came to the worst, she would just leave Nancheng for the rest of her life.

After all, she worked at a government agency.

She never hated or despised her illness like she did now. Ever since she started her relationship with Cheng Yue, she discovered that this illness, which she could forget but somehow couldn’t, would inevitably affect her entire life.

“What’s to fear?” Feng Yuzhi approached, placing the things she bought for Yan Huan on the bedside, and said to her daughter, “Without Cheng Yue, there’s still Ji Chuan! You’re just a playful child, focusing solely on picking up beautiful shells in the distance, but missing the even greater treasures right in front of you!”

Yan Huan understood her mother’s meaning, and she looked up at Ji Chuan.

He had a faint smile at the corners of his eyes: “Auntie is right! I’ve always been the treasure right before you. As long as you’re willing, I’m ready to be picked up by you at any time!”

Yan Huan lowered her head, her eyes slightly red.

“Look at you, so spineless! When you argued with me, you could come up with all sorts of absurd arguments. But now you’re bullied like this and still have the nerve to cry! Are you really my daughter, Feng Yuzhi’s?”

“Mom, can you please stop? Just let me have a moment of peace in my heart!” Yan Huan wiped her tears as she spoke.

“Alright, alright!” Feng Yuzhi, seeing her daughter so upset, couldn’t bring herself to say anything more that might pierce her heart.

So, she stepped out, leaving the time and space to Ji Chuan and Yan Huan.

“If you want to cry, just let it out.” Ji Chuan noticed how hard it was for Yan Huan to hold back, so he circled in front of her and said, “You can always borrow my shoulder! If you want, you can…”

Before Ji Chuan could finish, Yan Huan threw herself into his arms, clinging tightly to his clothes and burst into tears.

All her feelings for Cheng Yue, her anxiety and worry about her illness, her confusion and uncertainty about the future, and all the inexpressible pressures she endured, were all poured into this moment of crying, turning into hot tears that soaked through Ji Chuan’s shirt, flowing into his heart.

Ji Chuan felt her hot tears and gently pulled her closer and tighter.

After a long while, only when Yan Huan had cried her fill did she stop sobbing.

She released Ji Chuan, wiped her tears, and looked at the wet patch on his shirt, smiling sheepishly: “Sorry, I…”
