Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2037: Chapter 2030: Suspecting Commander Qin

An Hao usually had a good impression of him, but the news he brought this time was not so pleasant.

”An Hao, is your father and Qin Jian both here?” asked Political Commissar Wang.

”Yes, they’re both here! Political Commissar Wang, why don’t you come inside first?” An Hao invited them in and then shouted towards the dining room, ”Dad, Political Commissar Wang came to visit!”

Upon hearing that his old partner had arrived, Ning Yibin put down his chopsticks and came out of the dining room: ”Old Wang! What brings you here today? It’s such a rare visit!”

”Rare visit indeed! You know I don’t like visiting when I’m free!” Political Commissar Wang replied with a laugh, introducing the people he brought with him from behind, ”These are some comrades from the National Security Bureau! They’ve come to investigate something!”

”Hello!” Ning Yibin shook hands with them one by one, then gestured for everyone to sit down, ”What can I help the comrades from the National Security Bureau with?”

The comrades from the National Security Bureau exchanged glances, and finally, their section chief spoke up: ”Commander, the thing is, we’ve come to take Captain Qin away for some cooperative investigation!”

”Qin Jian?” Ning Yibin was stunned to hear that his son was to be taken away for investigation.

”Yes, it’s Captain Qin, you didn’t hear wrong!” said the section chief.

”What happened to him? Why investigate?” Ning Yibin’s smile disappeared, and his eyebrows furrowed, ”Did you investigate the wrong person?”

The National Security Bureau comrades hurriedly explained when they saw Ning Yibin seemed a bit angry: ”It’s like this! We suspect Captain Qin is closely related to the data leak of Zero Weapon. Therefore, we are here to investigate this matter.”

”Zero Weapon? Is this the weapon we’re currently developing?” Ning Yibin asked, ”The weapon’s data has been leaked?”

”Yes. It has already been leaked! Some organization internationally has already publicly bid for it! The highest bidder will obtain the data. Through this data, they will analyze the performance and other aspects of our weapon... The higher-ups are furious! Given that Captain Qin has always been in charge of this matter, since the password was leaked, we must come to the primary person in charge to resolve the situation!”

”Are you implying that Qin Jian leaked the secrets?” Ning Yibin’s voice suddenly raised by eight octaves.

”Old Ning, Old Ning! Calm down! This is just a preliminary suspicion, there’s no evidence yet, the comrades from the National Security Bureau are here to inquire. Please cooperate! Shall we call Qin Jian out now?”

Ning Yibin’s face turned livid upon hearing this.

Rarely losing his temper, he slammed his palm on the table this time, furiously saying, ”Tell me, how did you come to suspect him? I might not guarantee many things, but I’m absolutely certain that my son, Ning Yibin, would never do anything to betray state secrets! I’m not bragging, how many merits has he achieved over the years? Isn’t that evident to everyone?”

Political Commissar Wang, knowing his heart condition wasn’t good, quickly tried to calm him: ”Don’t be angry, Old Ning! You need to be mindful of your emotions, your heart isn’t in good condition, and such a wrath is particularly harmful to your health!”

In the dining room.

Qin Jian froze in place, his face livid.
