Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1956: Chapter 1949: Survival Rate Almost Zero

When she arrived, there were many people waiting in line to see the doctor.

An Hao patiently waited for a while, and after his patients had all been seen, she went in to greet the old military doctor.

”Ah, Dr. An! What brings you here today?” The old military doctor cheerfully greeted An Hao, ”Have a seat!”

”Professor Bai, I came to consult with you about some things!” An Hao replied politely and courteously.

”You, a top expert in cardiothoracic surgery, have something to consult me about?” The old military doctor joked with her.

”Professor Bai, I’m just a novice student; how could I be considered an expert! My mentor Yan Ye is the true expert.” An Hao humbly said.

Her surgical skills were already very impressive, and in the hospital, everyone knew she was a prized student of both Yan Ye and Ji Chuan, who were famously strict with their students.

Yet the students they had trained were all top-notch!

”I believe that one day your surgical skills will surpass those of your teachers.” The old military doctor complimented An Hao with a smile, then changed the topic to the main point, ”What issue are you consulting me about?”

”It’s about my relative. Has a patient named An Baoguo come to see you in the past few days?”

”Yes, that’s right.” The old military doctor had a strong impression of him, ”His condition isn’t optimistic! Why? Is he related to you?”

Because of the same surname, the military doctor naturally asked.

”He’s my second uncle. You know, in situations like these, patients are usually terrified and can’t explain things clearly, so I came here to ask you...”

”Lung cancer. Mid to late stage...” the old military doctor said, ”He used to smoke a lot; his lungs were already in bad shape.”

”If we go all out with the treatment, what do you think his survival rate is?” An Hao asked with a glimmer of hope.

”Almost zero.” The old military doctor replied truthfully. Since they were both doctors and peers, there was no need for him to sugarcoat it.

She believed An Hao already had a sense of it in her heart!

”Is there any chance of a miracle?”

”Perhaps! But miracles aren’t easy to come by. With our current medical capabilities, once it’s at mid to late stage, the cancer cells quickly spread throughout the body. To put it bluntly, it’s like waiting for death.” The old military doctor said very regretfully, ”I’m very sorry. Although we’re doctors, there are many things we can’t do.”

”I understand. Thank you for your explanation!” At that moment, a patient came in, and An Hao stood up, ”Then I won’t disturb you any longer! You go ahead and stay busy!”

In the afternoon, An Hao didn’t have any surgeries, so she went to the ward to check on Ning Chenyang who was receiving an IV.

The IV drip had finished, the child’s fever had subsided a lot, and his spirits were much better than before.

”Mommy, let’s go home!” Ning Chenyang opened his arms for a hug upon seeing An Hao.

An Hao lowered her head and kissed Ning Chenyang’s forehead, feeling that the temperature was not much different from her own lips, which reassured her enough to nod: ”Sweetheart, your fever has gone down a lot, are you feeling much better?”

Ning Chenyang nodded, wrapping his arms around An Hao’s neck and resting his head motionlessly in her embrace.

”He still feels uncomfortable. Let him sleep some more after we get back!” Zhang Yun said while packing things up.

As they left the hospital, Qin Jian personally drove to pick them up.

His son being sick weighed heavily on his mind too.
