Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1795: Chapter 1794: Looking Forward to This Day

“Tiantian… you don’t need to do this.” Lin Miao was deeply moved by Gan Tian’s actions. She hadn’t thought Tiantian would go to such lengths. “I believe you’re my sister! You’re my Gan Tian!”

“Of course! You’re my Miaomiao! We’ll be the best comrades for life!”

“Mhm!”

The two tightly clasped hands, striding off together toward the cinema.

……………

A week flew by in the blink of an eye.

In the blink of an eye, it was Lin Qiushu and Yan Ye’s wedding day.

The invitations had all been sent out—over two hundred copies printed in total.

Lin Qiushu’s business connections, the Lin Family’s overseas relatives, Yan Ye’s relatives and friends at the hospital, as well as Vice Commander Yan’s comrades-in-arms—this was shaping up to be a grand wedding indeed.

The day before the wedding, Feng Yuzhi had the orderlies thoroughly clean the house inside and out until not a speck of dust remained. Red wedding decorations were plastered everywhere, and even the doorway was lined with a red carpet.

The wedding atmosphere in the Yan Family was palpable. It seemed as though the entire military district could feel the joy radiating from Vice Commander Yan’s household.

This was to be a wedding blending both Chinese and Western traditions.

Originally, as Yan Ye was in the military, Vice Commander Yan’s preference was for the wedding to take place within the military grounds.

However, considering that Lin Qiushu had returned from abroad and that espionage activities were rampant nowadays, Vice Commander Yan decided to change his mind. Apart from immediate family members who could enter and exit the military compound freely, all other friends and relatives were directed to the State Guesthouse Grand Hotel.

This was also Lin Qiushu’s idea.

After all, as someone in business with numerous industry friends, a wedding naturally had to be somewhat grand. To some extent, the wedding also served as a networking occasion.

The cost of hosting the banquet at the State Guesthouse Grand Hotel was by no means trivial. For the Yan Family, footing the entire bill would have been a tall order.

Therefore, the Lin Family opted to split the costs.

They would cover the expenses for hosting the Lin Family’s friends, while the rest would be handled by the Yan Family.

This eased Yan Ye’s financial burden and, to some degree, preserved the Yan Family’s pride.

The Yan Family had no objections to this. As long as they could bring their daughter-in-law home, everything was negotiable.

Thus, on the wedding day, Lin Qiushu would first be brought from the Lin Family residence to the military compound for a formal introduction to the family house and to address her new in-laws as “mother” and “father.” After that, the family would drive to the hotel to host their relatives and friends.

According to Lin Qiushu’s plans for the wedding, she also needed a pair of best man and maid of honor.

After some thought, she found Qin Jian and An Hao the most suitable choice. However, Qin Jian had a meeting scheduled on the wedding day and couldn’t fulfill the role, forcing Lin Qiushu to find someone else instead.

As for An Hao, she couldn’t wriggle her way out of it and had to agree to be Lin Qiushu’s maid of honor.

That evening, after dinner, the Ning Family gathered to discuss the wedding preparations for the next day, deliberating over how much monetary gift would be appropriate to give.

The door suddenly resounded with knocks. Zhang Yun got up to open it and saw Yan Ye standing there, holding an incredibly ornate gift box.

“Oh, Xiaoye! Come on in!” Zhang Yun stepped aside to let Yan Ye in, warmly inviting him. “So, how are you feeling? Excited to be the groom tomorrow?”

“Excited! Of course, I’m excited! I’ve been waiting for this day for over thirty years!” Yan Ye replied, half-jokingly.

“I’d say the wait was entirely worth it! Qiushu’s an extraordinary young lady!” Ning Yibin couldn’t hold back his praise for the bride.
