Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1794: Chapter 1793: Identical Faces

Lin Miao swore aggressively, which scared Lin Miao herself: “Miaomiao, what’s wrong with you? Don’t do this, okay? Why are you swearing such a vicious oath? Let’s talk this over calmly.”

“Calmly? But did you talk to me calmly?” Lin Miao could hardly believe what she had just experienced. “Tiantian, just now, you really scared me! It felt like you became a completely different person! That feeling was so strange, so unfamiliar! I felt like you were so far away from me, as if you were wearing a mask and suddenly ripped it off! I don’t even know which one of you is the real you anymore!”

“Miaomiao… I really don’t understand what you’re talking about.” Gan Tian looked entirely baffled by what Lin Miao said. She had just gone to the restroom for a moment, but now it seemed like everything had somehow turned bizarre. “You said I showed up? That I deliberately and cruelly threw away the candy-coated hawthorn skewers you bought? But I truly didn’t do any of that! You know me, we’re such close friends. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”

“I used to know you well. But now… now I’m genuinely confused. Gan Tian, if you’re saying that wasn’t you just now, let me ask you: why would the two of you be wearing identical clothes? And why would you have identical faces?” Lin Miao felt like she was being played, her heart simmering with anger.

It was incredibly difficult to accept—a person she had always considered her closest sister, suddenly being involved in something like this.

After Lin Miao finished speaking, Gan Tian suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. “Miaomiao, I swear to the heavens, if I really did something like that just now, may I be hit by a car as soon as I walk out the door!”

Gan Tian looked directly into her eyes, her gaze sincere and warm—completely different from the feeling Lin Miao had moments before. This was the Gan Tian she knew.

“Trust me!” Gan Tian said firmly.

“So what, was I seeing a ghost just now?” Lin Miao shivered as goosebumps rose all over her body. “And it’s broad daylight, no less!”

“Miaomiao, are you sure you didn’t mistake something? Or maybe you had a hallucination?”

“How could that be? I was staring wide-eyed! How could I hallucinate?”

“Then there are only two explanations left,” Gan Tian said, taking a deep breath. “First, your brain has an issue. Second, I’ve developed schizophrenia!”

“You’re the one with schizophrenia!”

“Pfft! You’re the one with a brain issue!”

“Could it be… do you have a twin sister or something?” Lin Miao suddenly asked.

“If only I did! But I don’t. I only had a younger brother, but he died before I joined the army. My mom, because of that, was so devastated that she almost lost her sanity!” Thinking of her deceased younger brother, Gan Tian felt waves of sorrow in her heart.

“I’m sorry! I just said it casually.” Lin Miao felt deeply apologetic for bringing up Gan Tian’s painful past.

“It’s okay! It’s all in the past! Your guessing is understandable too!” Gan Tian mumbled softly.

“Sigh! Forget it, forget it! Let’s just say my brain has issues! Let’s stop talking about this! Come on, let’s go watch a movie!”

“Wait!” Gan Tian suddenly bent down to pick up the candy-coated hawthorn skewers lying on the ground, now dirty. “It’s not dirty, still edible!”

She then pulled a handkerchief out of her pocket and started wiping off the layer of dirt and dust.

“Stop messing around! They’re dirty, don’t eat them!” Lin Miao hurriedly tried to stop her.

“They’re not dirty! Not dirty at all! This was something Miaomiao bought for me! I can’t refuse Miaomiao’s good intentions!” After wiping it clean, Gan Tian took a bite of the skewer.
