Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2249: Chapter 2243: One Person, 1.5 kg?

”Coming.” Qin Yu responded to the shout, asking his sister to watch the kids while he fetched water.

”Qing Zhu, are you almost done?” Qin Yu came over and saw Qing Zhu dealing with crayfish, but wasn’t this a bit too much?

”No, just enough for us to have a meal, that’s all. Why, do you want to help?” Qing Zhu asked Qin Yu without even looking up.

”Sure, I’ll help right after I get the water for my little sister.” Qin Yu felt bad watching the two sisters busy themselves while he idled by, it weighed on his conscience.

”You’re quite dutiful. Hurry up, the sooner we finish, the sooner you can eat and rest.” Qing Zhu’s line of thinking was different from Qin Xue’s; unless the work was done, how could there be food? Helping out would speed things up, after all.

Qin Xue watched them from the side, shaking her head. She’d told her brother not to help for ages, but Qing Zhu managed to pull him over with just a few words. Oh well, let him help, it’ll speed things up anyway.

Qin Xue decided not to worry about them, as long as she did her part.

”Qing Zhu, how much do we need to cook for it to be enough?” Qin Yu hadn’t eaten this in a while; ever since his sisters moved to the Imperial Capital, he hadn’t had any and was craving it, as it complemented rice so well.

”How much can you eat? 1 kg or 1.5 kg?” Qing Zhu looked up at Qin Yu.

”1 kg, but I could finish 1.5 kg too. Eating too much at once ruins the craving for next time, might as well pace myself.” Qin Yu replied, unreservedly.

”That’s what I thought too. We gotta hurry then; 1 kg for you, 1 kg for me. It adds up, needing 7 to 8 kg, plenty of work ahead.” Qing Zhu roughly calculated. It was surprising how much there was for just the two of them to handle. How long would it take to finish?

”Don’t worry, I used to help my sister with this. I know how to do it, won’t take long.” Qin Yu wasn’t worried at all; the trick was the tedious part of cleaning, while the guts and head could be easily handled with a pair of scissors.

”Alright, but we have to hurry, or it’ll be quite a mess.” Qing Zhu was not as optimistic as Qin Yu. She had initially thought only she would eat, but given Qin Yu’s appetite, they needed more. Better to have leftovers than not enough.

The hustle and bustle of meal prep filled Qin Xue’s home, while on the other side, Ye Li and Ye Zishu faced a different scene.

”Ye Li, seems like there’s no one home.” Although Ye Zishu voiced a question, his tone was matter-of-fact.

”Hmm, Auntie probably went home after work, Dad’s surely busy with work and hasn’t returned, and my brother’s busy too. Having no one at home is normal.” Ye Li thought that if there were people at home, that would be unusual. He might even have to check if the sky was falling then.

”Uncle and my cousin are really busy. The house seems so quiet, they must not come back often.” If Ye Zishu imagined staying here, she wouldn’t be able to stand it, there was too little warmth.

”So busy they don’t even come home.” Ye Li harbored some resentment. If it wasn’t for their busyness, he wouldn’t have to go to his uncle’s house. But he didn’t want to tell them that—let them send him wherever they pleased. After all these years, he’d gotten used to it and even felt his uncle’s home was his real home.

”They’re working to make a living, can’t be helped if they’re busy, right?” Ye Zishu could imagine how busy two grown men could be. Having a house didn’t equal having a home when there wasn’t a woman around. Returning to such a place would feel directionless; if it were her, she might just go further than they did.
