Be Gentle, My Master

“Mu Xiaoyao, can we let go of our prejudices this time, just for the game?” Dongfang Ji looked into Mu Xiaoyao’s eyes and spoke indifferently.

“Big brother said that if we lose, he won’t let me come home anymore.” Although he didn’t take this minor competition seriously, if something unexpected happened because of his personal feud with Mu Xiaoyao.

His big brother’s word was as good as gold; he wouldn’t banish me from home forever, but banishing me for a year or so was still within his capabilities.

Mu Xiaoyao’s face showed no expression as he nodded silently without a word.

Uncle said if we lost, I needn’t bother coming back to see him.

Such harsh words were already thrown at me, so keeping surprises like losing to a minimum would be best.

“Just don’t hold me back,” he muttered indifferently as he turned around.

“I was about to say the same thing to you,” Dongfang Ji replied without showing any weakness.

The moment the two met, there was a tension that gave Baili Xia a headache.

“Alright, alright. You two need to cooperate well and help us win the game, or else I won’t bother registering you.”

It was clear they were here on a mission, given how hard it was to bring these two together.

Both nodded, took the team uniforms Tan Xiao handed them, and went to change in the locker room.

When Baili Xia returned after registering, they had already come out of the locker room and were warming up at the court.

Their presence inevitably caused a stir in the spectator stands.

Baili Xia noticed that more and more spectators were flooding into the venue.

The attractiveness of handsome stars is immense; the news had barely spread before so many had gathered here.

When the match was about to start, Baili Xia gathered everyone together to assign their positions.

In reality, there wasn’t much to arrange; only four people on their team knew how to play basketball—Dongfang Ji, Mu Xiaoyao, Li Dacheng, and Chen Ming.

So, they chose someone who was tall and physically fit as the last starting member.

Even if he wasn’t proficient, at least he could play basketball.

As the match officially began, the whispers of the girls in the neighboring spectator stands kept coming.

“Who should I even root for to win?”

“I really don’t want Mu and Dongfang to lose, but if we lose then we’re out.

What should we do?”

“If only there were ties in basketball…”

Seeing Mu Xiaoyao and Dongfang Ji join the design team, even the girls from the opposing classes were wavering in their loyalty.

But, handsome as they were, the players on the field didn’t care about these trivial matters; they were all working hard.

Defeating these male gods in the eyes of the girls would make them even happier.

Initially, the design class was clearly still rusty, showing some gaps in teamwork.

Soon, their opponents took advantage and widened the score to 19:8, with only Dongfang Ji and Mu Xiaoyao scoring two baskets each.

Seeing the tide turn against them, Mu Xiaoyao called for a timeout.

Everyone huddled together, and Mu Xiaoyao started speaking.

“We are put together temporarily, so our coordination isn’t very smooth.”

“From now on, Dongfang Ji and I will handle organization and main attacks.

The rest of you need to keep moving and quickly pass the ball back to us after receiving it.”

“For defense, we’ll use man-to-man coverage.

You cover their number five—he’s slower and thinner than you.

Just stick close to him, and don’t let him get the ball or make passes easily.”
