The world reincarnates, each time a new talent!

72: Ding Chunqiu, you are having an affair with your teacher and you have no regard for human ethics!“We swear to follow Chief Murong to the death!”

“We swear to follow Chief Murong to the death!”

Ning Yuan smiled as he watched the fervent scene below. A moment later, he raised a hand, waiting for the crowd to quiet down, then said, “Given that I am not familiar with the clan’s affairs, I wish to promote someone to be the Beggar Clan’s Deputy Chief, to manage internal affairs for me. And this person is…”

Ning Yuan’s gaze fell on Bai Shijing, and he cupped his hands to Bai Shijing, saying solemnly, “I will trouble Law Enforcement Elder to hold two positions. What are Elder Bai’s and all you brothers’ opinions?”

Ning Yuan looked at the clan members below and shouted heroically.

“Elder Bai has enforced the law for many years, and his dealings have always been fair. We are convinced and willing to accept him as Deputy Chief!”

Upon hearing Ning Yuan’s words, someone immediately stood up to express support.

The other Elders also nodded in agreement.

Bai Shijing’s conduct in the Beggar Clan, at least on the surface, was admirable.

“Elder Bai, please.”

Ning Yuan turned slightly, extending an arm to invite Bai Shijing.

Bai Shijing’s eyes flickered. Meeting Ning Yuan’s smiling eyes, he only felt a chill in his heart. Fortunately, he was also skilled at acting. He immediately walked onto the high platform, cupped his hands, and said, “Thank you, Chief and all you brothers, for your high regard. Although I, Bai, have held the position of Law Enforcement Elder for many years, how can I bear such a great responsibility?”

Bai Shijing looked humble.

“Ah! Elder Bai has served our clan diligently for many years, and his contributions are evident to all. Now, our Beggar Clan has changed three Chiefs in just over a month, and the Deputy Chief was assassinated by an internal traitor. This is a time of internal and external troubles, and we need an experienced and steady Elder like Elder Bai to preside over the overall situation.”

Ning Yuan said with a serious expression.

Others also chimed in, “Elder Bai, please do not decline. We all believe Elder Bai has such capability.”

The other Elders also spoke.

Seeing this, Bai Shijing had no choice but to go along with it, smiling as he cupped his hands and said, “Since the Chief, all you Elders, and brothers hold me in such high regard, then I, Bai, will brazenly accept this position. For the clan’s affairs, we still need the collective efforts of all you Elders and brothers.”

“We greet the Deputy Chief!”

The Beggar Clan Disciples below bowed.

Ning Yuan and Bai Shijing exchanged glances, and Bai Shijing appeared even more respectful.

“As for Elder Xu, he is an Elder of our Beggar Clan, and the person we Juniors respect the most. At such an advanced age, Elder Xu should not have to worry about the clan’s affairs anymore. At that time, Elder Xu can rest peacefully within the clan.”

Ning Yuan then said to Elder Xu.

Elder Xu’s expression changed slightly, but in the end, he still nodded, “This old man is eighty-six; my body and energy are no longer what they once were. If it weren’t for the suspicious identity of the former Chief, and my worry that the Beggar Clan would fall into the hands of foreign races, endangering the Great Song, this old man would not have meddled in clan affairs. Now that Murong Fu has been chosen as Chief, and with the Law Enforcement Elder assisting him, I can rest assured and return home to enjoy my twilight years!”

“Elder Xu, rest assured, I will certainly assist the Chief well.”

Bai Shijing immediately said.

Elder Xu nodded and said nothing more.

Ning Yuan then looked at the other Martial Forest members around him, smiling, “Murong Fu thanks all of you for traveling so far to participate in my inauguration as the Beggar Clan Leader. Today, all you brothers, may drink here until you are drunk.”

“Young Master Murong family, what are you saying? Young Master Murong family eliminated the four evils and destroyed the Western Xia First Rank Hall. His contributions to the Central Plains Martial Forest are evident to all. We naturally came to congratulate Chief Murong!”

“That’s right. It is said that people from Xingxiu Hai have recently come to the Central Plains to cause trouble. We hope Chief Murong will be careful!”
