The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1168: Chapter 1168: Running around every day is too life-draining!

”The commercial Flying Boats really are convenient, but the journey just takes too long.”

Carson Flores lay on a sun lounger, a book in hand, passing the time.

Alone and bored, naturally the best way to kill time was through cultivation, but with two people on the journey, it was hardly dull, so naturally Carson didn’t cultivate.

Cultivation in the ordinary way increased one’s strength far too slowly. Without elixirs or some serendipitous encounter, for someone in the Late Phase of Transforming Spirit like Carson, to cultivate to the Peak of Spirit Transformation would take at least a hundred and eighty years, or perhaps even longer.

Carson’s journey thus far had been filled with all sorts of adventures, encounters, and gains: True Dragon’s Blood, luminous gems, Immortal Spirit Qi, and so on. Without these, how could he have improved so fast?

Delaney Hunter lay on the adjacent sun lounger, leisurely cracking sunflower seeds, with a pot of steaming spiritual tea on the small table beside her.

She had already achieved Nascent Soul Great Perfection and needed to reach enlightenment and breakthrough.

”Got so used to the Mortal Realm, must be rather uncomfortable in the Barbaric Wilderness Realm, huh?”

Carson smiled and said, ”Yeah, in the Mortal Realm, even though people can’t fly, there are airplanes to travel with. You can reach almost any place within a day’s flight. In the Barbaric Wilderness Realm, spanning a state can easily take a month, or two. This to and fro; so much time gets wasted on the journey.”

After a pause, Carson asked, ”Isn’t there something like a gateway, you know, the sort where you enter in Misrds State and whoosh, you’re instantly in Eastern Emperor Province...”

Delaney chuckled and said, ”I’ve heard that there were some in ancient times, said to have been constructed with the help of Immortals, but they were all destroyed in wars that followed.”

Carson looked up and asked, ”Fairy, are there such gateways in the Immortal Realm?”

”Yes.”

Cristopher Hopkins Immortal’s voice rang out: ”The Immortal Realm is vast and boundless, made up of many domains. There are Teleportation Arrays between these domains, and some important cities have them too. However, those are only for very long distances. The distances you’re talking about, like a month or two’s flight, aren’t considered far at all...”

Carson teased, ”Now I see why everyone in the Immortal Realm lives for so long, after all, running around is such a life drainer!”

Cristopher Hopkins Immortal’s voice held a hint of laughter: ”No one really knows how vast the Immortal Realm is, because the barren lands are so expansive. The regions inhabited by people are just a tiny fraction of it.”

”The maintenance of a gateway requires a massive amount of Immortal Stones, an expense that ordinary Sects simply cannot afford. Only the super Sects can manage it, so there are not many gateways.”

”Besides these gateways, the Immortal Realm has some special pinpointed teleportation methods. Although they also consume a lot of resources, they are more convenient. Compared with fixed gateways, they consume less and are more flexible.”

Carson asked, ”Like the method Elder Jiang used that day to cross through the void?”

Cristopher Hopkins Immortal nodded: ”Right, but the Array Plate he used that day was just for directional movement, not fixed-point. Fixed-point transportation requires two Array Plates. Think of them as paired, one the ’child’ and the other the ’mother’.”

”Activating the child plate causes the mother plate to respond, and then activating the mother plate can create a one-way gateway. Personnel can then be transported from the place of the mother plate to that of the child plate.”

Hearing this, Carson said, ”So if the person carrying the mother plate takes another mother plate when they set off and leaves a child plate at home, couldn’t they transport there and then quickly back again?”

”Indeed, that’s possible.”

Cristopher Hopkins Immortal explained: ”But there are some limitations, such as the distance of use. After all, the further the distance, the greater the consumption of Immortal Spirit Qi, and there is a limit to how much Immortal Spirit Qi the Array Plate can handle. Meaning the paired transportation plates also have a range limit. If it exceeds the distance, even if the child plate emits a signal, the mother plate won’t respond.”
