The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 771: Chapter 771 I have a premonition that he’s still alive..._1

”I won’t go.”

To Carson Flores’s surprise, Lucy Frost refused.

Her gaze swept over the cabin, laden with a deep reluctance, ”Lena Parrish has been coveting this cave mansion, and I’ve always refused. It’s not that I can’t part with the cave mansion; it’s this wooden house that I can’t bear to leave, every item in this house. Only by being here, seeing these things, do I feel like he is still by my side.”

Lucy Frost’s eyes finally rested on Carson’s face, filled with guilt, ”Carson, I’m sorry, I haven’t fulfilled my responsibilities as a mother throughout your life. Now that you’ve grown up, started a family, and made a career, you don’t need my care anymore, and I don’t want to hold you back. Just let me stay here, I want to wait for him here, I really have a premonition... he is still alive...”

Carson remained silent for a moment, then nodded gently, ”Okay.”

In that moment, he truly felt his mother’s deep and sincere love for his father.

He could understand her decision.

With his status as the Cave Master’s direct disciple, he thought she would be safe staying here without any bullying. He could visit her when he had time. They could talk about it when she changed her mind.

Lucy Frost suddenly stood up, ”It’s getting dark. I’ll go cook... Will you stay for dinner?”

Her words were filled with intense hope and a touch of careful anticipation, as if fearing Carson would refuse.

Carson smiled and agreed, ”Sure, I’ll help you.”

With her eyes reddening, Lucy Frost refused, ”No, you sit. I’ll do it.”

Carson didn’t insist further, smiling again, ”Okay, then I’ll sit beside you and we can chat.”

”Okay!”

Lucy Frost went to the door and picked a variety of vegetables she had planted, bustling about to prepare a lavish dinner. Carson really didn’t help; he just casually chatted about some interesting anecdotes from his own life.

”Try this, see if you like it?”

Carson picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of braised pork rib, took a bite, and praised with a smile, ”Delicious, your cooking skills are really good. You could run a successful restaurant.”

Relieved, Lucy Frost said, ”Then eat more, and try this too...”

Carson ate heartily without any pretense, finishing all the food she had prepared.

Watching this scene, Lucy Frost’s eyes became moist with tears streaming down. She quickly turned away, pretending to wipe them off, not wanting Carson to see.

Carson, whose head was lowered as he ate, had red-rimmed eyes.

He understood why his mother insisted on not letting him help—she just wanted to prepare a full meal for her son herself, to make up for the missing maternal love.

After eating, Carson stood up to take his leave and returned to the guest residence.

Lying in bed, Carson was restless.

He had thought he would see his parents but had not expected to learn that his father had been missing for ten years.

That was the perilous Harmony Hollow. His colleagues had all but perished, and with his father missing and no body found, the likelihood of him being dead was virtually one hundred percent after ten years.

He didn’t believe in the premonition his mother spoke of; perhaps it was just a way of clinging to hope, unwilling to accept reality.

From the description by his aunt Leah Frost, his mother was a strong, assertive person. Yet today, she seemed rather subdued, evidently deeply impacted by his father’s disappearance.

Perhaps, he could inquire about the reason behind the expedition from Mount Kahdas to Harmony Hollow ten years ago.

Carson always felt there was a connection to the Tomb of the Demon Emperor, as mentioned by Joaquin Moses.

If there wasn’t significant benefit, who would risk wandering into a deadly place for no reason?

The next morning, Onyx Mason found Carson.

”The Cave Master summons you,” he said.

”Please lead the way.”

Carson followed Onyx Mason, crossing many of Mount Kahdas’s main peaks until they landed in an inconspicuous valley with a frozen lake, where despite the ice, many lotuses were in full bloom.

These lotuses were clearly different from ordinary ones, with emerald-green leaves and flowers glimmering with divine light and hints of silver, radiating a sacred aura.

A young man who looked to be in his late teens was sitting cross-legged by the lake, his skin like jade and eyes like stars, exceedingly handsome. In front of him was a fishing rod, and he was fishing in this frozen lake.

”Cave Master, Carson Flores is here.”

Cave Master!
