The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

”Back then...”

In Grandma’s recounting, Little Taotie seemed to see that feudal era.

He saw the scene of a girl confronting her parents, yearning for freedom, and unwilling to enter a blind marriage.

But... she did not succeed.

She was forced to be sent off for marriage, forced to become a bride, and that night, she chose to jump into a well.

Little Taotie blinked, seeing the Ghost in Cheongsam shaking her head.

The Ghost in Cheongsam sighed, ”It wasn’t like that. Would someone like me, who fights against fate, choose to end it all? Even if I failed once, I would still find more opportunities to fight against fate. I wouldn’t give up just like that, nor would I be weak enough to choose death as an escape.”

Grandma softly said, ”Everyone told me she committed suicide by jumping into a well, but I don’t believe it... I don’t believe it at all!”

She suddenly grew agitated, her voice rising, ”She was like a calm lake, so serene, gentle, and quiet, but nobody understood her. She was a lake by the volcano, seemingly calm, but boiling inside. She longed for freedom. Even if she were to commit suicide, she would not choose such a small and confining well with no freedom!”

”If someone said she jumped into the sea, I could believe it a little, but jumping into a well? What a joke!”

”I don’t believe for a second that someone who longs for freedom would jump into a well! Even if she didn’t escape this time and was brought back, there would be another time, countless times to escape, so why choose suicide? The foolish people answered me, saying she didn’t want to marry that man, didn’t want to enter the bridal chamber, so she committed suicide to defend her chastity!”

”Pfft!” Grandma started laughing, but as she laughed, tears rolled down her cheeks. ”How could that be? She and I both studied abroad, chastity isn’t worth a damn, is it more important than life and freedom? Those pedantic people use their minds to speculate on what’s in our hearts, and that’s a joke in itself! Isn’t it funny that they use their limited thinking to guess what a freedom-loving eagle wants?”

Little Taotie blinked, and blinked again.

Grandma settled her emotions, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, ”Look at me, what am I saying, talking to a child like you, truly, I’m just getting senile...”

The reason Little Taotie blinked was because she saw that the Ghost in Cheongsam was also sometimes laughing, sometimes crying, with expressions identical to Grandma’s. She was a little curious, a little baffled, yet seemed to understand something silently, feeling slightly moved by the moment.

”Grandma, do you want to see her?” Suddenly, Little Taotie leaned into Grandma’s ear and asked softly.

The childlike tone seemed to hold a kind of magic, making it impossible to not express one’s deep desire: ”Of course, I dream of it, but she just won’t show up in my dreams, isn’t that annoying?”

Little Taotie glanced at the Ghost in Cheongsam, who was stunned, only then shifting her attention from Grandma to the little girl, realizing with surprise that this little girl seemed to see her!

Those eyes, so clear, so bright, so fixated on her!

Not staring blankly into the void, but truly looking at her as if she was tangible!

”You... you can see me?” The Ghost in Cheongsam’s voice trembled, unsure if it was from fright or excitement.

Little Taotie nodded slightly, diverted her gaze, looked at Grandma, and asked once again, ”Grandma, she’s been dead for a long time, if you see her, won’t you be scared? Is your heart alright, will it be frightened?”
