The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1307: Chapter 1307: Landlubbers Who Can’t Swim

Helen lightly bumped Little Taotie with her shoulder, ”I really envy you, I wish I had a big brother who would bravely swim over to protect me too!”

Little Taotie, however, put on a serious face, ”But it’s very dangerous. Just thinking about how he almost got spotted by the pirates makes me uneasy.”

Helen nodded: ”It’s indeed very dangerous, his actions were a bit too reckless.”

Little Taotie sighed, ”Now there’s one more hostage on the island.”

Helen’s mouth twitched: ”Indeed, it’s like he’s delivering himself to them.”

Fortunately, Tao Bin was discussing the escape route with the director and others, otherwise, he would have been furious after hearing their conversation.

Other than glaring, there’s not much he could do to the girls younger than him.

Director: ”You’re sure it only takes twenty minutes to swim across.”

Tao Bin: ”Yes, if we swim a little faster, twenty minutes is enough.”

Assistant Director: ”You heard those three pirates went off to drink?”

Tao Bin: ”Yes, they should be drinking by now.”

Director: ”Since they left their posts to drink, they probably won’t be noticed for a while, which means there’s an unguarded gap we can use to escape and swim to the safety of Green Forest Island.”

Tao Bin: ”Yes, now is the best time.”

The Art department head timidly raised a hand: ”I want to ask, what about the ones who can’t swim?”

Several staff members raised their hands, speaking in unison: ”Same question!”

Director: ”...”

Does he have to say, the ones who can’t swim should just stay on the island?

If he says that, he’s afraid they’d be furious with him.

The director rubbed his nose, feeling a bit guilty.

The assistant director noticed the director’s difficulty. Normally, seeing the director troubled, he would step forward to help as a loyal subordinate, but at this life-and-death moment, he remained silent.

If he spoke up, he’d become a historical villain and be cursed forever.

Seeing neither the director nor the assistant director spoke, the Art department head said seriously: ”I hope the director wouldn’t be irresponsible and leave any of us behind, right? You know, it was you who led us onto the island, and I hope you will lead all of us safely off it.”

The Art department head remained fairly calm, but some hot-tempered staff were much more vehement in their words: ”If the director sneaks off the island with people, leaving us non-swimmers behind, then no one gets to leave. Even if it means going down together, no one leaves!”

The director frowned, his face grave.

The assistant director clenched his fist, wanting to say something but eventually holding back.

No matter what he says now, it’s wrong, they mustn’t anger these non-swimmers.

In the face of life and death, it’s also when the ugliest side of human nature is revealed.

He admitted that he and the director did indeed want to leave the non-swimmers behind. After all, they couldn’t swim! But it doesn’t mean they should say that in front of them; even if it’s just a pretense, they should maintain appearances.

It’s impossible to give up their chance for escape for the non-swimmers.

Next door Grandma Wang had just returned from the hospital, and she recalled the past massacres on the island. The director and assistant director were terrified, worrying that the pirates would make an example out of them.

In Grandma Wang’s memories, outsiders were dragged out for public execution.

Everyone in the crew is an outsider, all likely to be the ”chickens” slaughtered to warn others.

The director spoke gently: ”Please calm down, we came to the island together, and we will certainly leave the island together! I’m responsible for bringing everyone here, and I will ensure everyone leaves here safely, you have my assurance.”
