The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1165: Chapter 1165: A Little Horn (Part 19)

In youth, everyone experiences infatuation, including the old emperor who secretly had a crush on the Emperor’s Sister-in-law back in the day. But after growing up and seeing her again, the emotions of that crush had long faded with time and disappeared with the increase of wrinkles on her face.

The old emperor cleared his throat, ”I’m not in a hurry for your answer, considering the answer you give me now may not be accurate. How about this, you go to the Border Town to see her. If, after seeing her, she still occupies your heart, then I’ll ask for her opinion. If she agrees, then fine, I’ll sanction a marriage for you.”

”What if the Princess doesn’t agree?” Bai Yu’s brows furrowed slightly.

The old emperor spread his hands, ”Then there’s nothing I can do.”

He dared not force his eldest daughter. One must know that back when the marriage alliance was discussed, as soon as he hinted at it, she boldly killed the envoy, abandoned her female attire, donned military gear, and went to the battlefield to kill enemies!

Actually, the Border Town had already become well-fortified, and foreign states dared not invade. Occasionally, a formidable martial artist would come alone to provoke, sending a challenge inviting a face-off with the Eldest Princess.

The Eldest Princess could have returned to the Imperial City long ago, but she delayed. Clearly, she feared that returning would mean being pressed into marriage. She preferred to live freely in the Border Town.

He also feared that if he bestowed a marriage against her will, the Bai Family might have to hold a funeral the very next day.

The old emperor looked Bai Yu up and down, thinking this little weakling could meet his eldest daughter’s punches and face death?

Bai Yu felt the emperor’s gaze was strange and curiously asked, ”Why is Your Majesty looking at me like that?”

The old emperor cleared his throat, ”You come from a military family, yet became the top scholar. Is this considered abandoning literature for martial pursuits?”

”I know some martial arts.”

”Then it doesn’t count as abandoning literature for martial pursuits.” The old emperor thought for a moment, ”The martial top scholar competition is next month; are you participating?”

”I’m not a Martial Examination Candidate.”

”No matter, I can issue you one.”

Seeing his furrowed brow, the old emperor laughed heartily, ”If you become the martial top scholar, I can grant you an official position, openly arrange for you to be in the Border Town as her Deputy General, so you can be together day and night. If you’re intent, eventually you’ll win her heart, considering your looks...”

Bai Yu unconsciously touched his face.

He used to think this face drew too much attention, which was bothersome.

But at this moment, he thought, if it could make her eyes linger on him, it would be a blessing.

”I will certainly become the martial top scholar.”

”Good! A blessing for Great Xia, to have both literary and martial top scholar in one person, surely it would become a wonderful story!”

...

The battlefield is dangerous, and there’s only this one grandson. The future position of King with a Different Surname was meant for the grandson to inherit. That’s why back then, when the two families discussed, the Bai Family agreed for Bai Yu to abandon literature and pursue martial arts.

But now Bai Yu still has to take the martial top scholar exam, still has to go to the battlefield, which makes the King with a Different Surname very angry.

Upon learning that his grandson’s affection is actually for the Eldest Princess, he became even more furious.

”Do you know what you’re saying?! You know how many years older the Eldest Princess is than you? Six years! And she’s a husband-destroyer, her five fiancés all died because of her, are you eager to be the sixth!”

Bai Yu allowed his grandfather’s spit to cover his face, waiting for him to calm down, then slowly spoke, ”Since I was nine, I’ve liked the Eldest Princess.”

”I always thought you liked the Little Princess!” The King with a Different Surname had guessed as much, after all, when his grandson left the palace back then, he had a heart set on someone, likely someone close in age like the Little Princess. Who would’ve thought it was the Eldest Princess!

”I like the Eldest Princess, and I’ll marry no one else in this life! If you intend to stop me, then I’ll shave my head and become a monk!”
