The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: A Little Horn (Part 3)

After passing the scholar exam, he had to attend the prefectural school and couldn’t stay home often.

Someone took advantage of his absence to break into the house to steal. His widowed mother discovered the thief and was almost killed. As she cried for help, a girl wielding a machete rushed in to save his mother.

In fact, this girl was his mother’s savior.

She was the daughter of a hunter family, naturally strong and open-minded. After long periods of interaction, the top scholar secretly fell in love with her.

When traveling to the capital for exams, he mustered the courage to confess, saying that if he succeeded in the exams and returned, he hoped she would marry him.

The girl agreed.

”Had I known earlier, I should have gotten engaged before heading out for the exams.” The top scholar smiled bitterly.

”How strong is she?” the young lady suddenly asked.

The top scholar paused in surprise.

He didn’t expect Her Royal Highness Princess’s interest would be focused on Lady Wan’s strength.

Recalling when he sprained his foot and Lady Wan had to carry him, he couldn’t help but blush.

”Hey, the Princess is asking you a question, how come you’re mute again!” The little palace maid urged.

The top scholar replied promptly, ”She goes hunting with her father in the mountains and can carry three wolves down by herself.”

The little palace maid exclaimed, ”Who are you trying to fool, how is that possible!”

The young lady squinted her eyes, a bit of interest twinkling in her previously listless eyes, ”This Princess wants to meet her.”

”Princess, are you going to vent your anger on her?” The top scholar hastily knelt down, ”I say this only to hope the Princess won’t investigate, to spare her. I didn’t expect...”

”This Princess is giving you and her a chance.”

The top scholar looked at her in surprise.

The young lady stood up, brushed her skirt, ”This Princess has a good bow. Not many people can draw it. If she can draw the bowstring, I will grant her a blessing.”

The top scholar stared blankly as the young lady left. The little palace maid snorted before leaving, ”Her Royal Highness Princess intends to fulfill your wishes. However, it still depends on whether the hunter girl has real skills! If she does, humph, you’re in luck!”

After the little palace maid departed, recalling her words, the top scholar sat on the ground, feeling uneasy and worried, not knowing if Lady Wan could manage it.

...

Lady Wan was overjoyed to learn that the man she admired had become the top scholar.

The top scholar’s widowed mother liked Wan Nian very much and was already preparing for the engagement.

But a piece of bad news came. The top scholar publicly refused the Emperor’s betrothal, angering the Emperor, leading to his imprisonment in the heavenly prison, with execution scheduled!

The top scholar’s widowed mother fainted on the spot.

Lady Wan decided to go to the Imperial City to speak to the Emperor, questioning whether his daughter could not marry. Should refusal lead to death? How absurd!

...

In the Imperial Palace, the old Emperor frowned at the pastries on the table, ”You shouldn’t cook.”

Other fathers happily enjoy the pastries made by their daughters, while eating his own daughter’s pastries might take half his life.

After eating, within less than half an hour, he was surely bound for the restroom.

Taking a deep breath, ”Can I not eat it?”

”Father, these are mung bean cakes made from beans I soaked early in the morning, working all morning. Would you truly not want to have even a taste?”

Seeing his eldest daughter looking sorrowful, the old Emperor thought of the Empress who passed away early, sighed, closed his eyes, and took a piece, biting into it.

The mung bean cake tasted bitter; how did she even make it like this!

The old Emperor forced himself to swallow and asked, ”Do you have something to ask of the Emperor?”

This daughter wouldn’t come to the Imperial Palace without a reason, and bringing pastries surely meant she had a request.

”I heard that the top scholar’s admired lady has natural divine power. I wish to observe it.”
