The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 809: Chapter 809: Don’t Talk Behind People’s Backs

”What do you mean by that? Three months later, even if you’re reassigned, he won’t be back?”

Chen Zi lowered his eyes, a faint light flashing beneath them. He looked up, his eyes bright, with a harmless smile: ”Yes. If there’s a mistake at work, you’re usually just fired. But his original position was higher than an assistant’s, so in the end, he’s only reassigned. Actually, my original position was the same as his, so even if I don’t perform well and can’t stay by Little Taotie’s side, at most, I’d just be reassigned.”

Chen Zi spread his hands: ”To me, staying here or leaving here, it doesn’t really matter.”

”Then why are you being so attentive?” Sitian frowned, staring at him suspiciously, feeling that he was trying to fool her.

”Attentive? I don’t understand why me working seriously would lead you to such a misunderstanding.”

”Working seriously?”

”Yes, isn’t that what an assistant’s job is? To please Little Taotie, to please the staff around, and hence be good to our Little Taotie. To me, this assistant job, I’m a rookie, so I went through a lot of materials and consulted many veterans with years of experience to gain this knowledge.”

Sitian was at a loss for words.

Seeing the other person couldn’t speak, Chen Zi took it easy, apologizing with a face full of regret: ”I know Gu Bei is dating you, and with Gu Bei being transferred, I was suddenly brought in, making you angry at me.”

”No! You’re talking nonsense! I’m not Sheng Nan! Gu Bei is dating Sheng Nan, what’s it got to do with me!”

Chen Zi mused to himself: You know what’s it got to do with you? Sheng Nan hasn’t come to trouble me, yet here you are, playing the vanguard! Someone who doesn’t know might really think you’re Gu Bei’s girlfriend!

Of course, Chen Zi knew the person in front of him wasn’t Gu Bei’s girlfriend; saying this was just for fun.

Chen Zi gave a sorry smile: ”I got it wrong, I thought you were... sorry.”

Sitian felt exhausted: Sheng Nan didn’t think much of it, why am I here stirring things up? This guy doesn’t look like a bad person; after all, it wasn’t his choice to be transferred here. According to him, his original position was even higher than an assistant’s, so he must have been forced into it.

Sitian scratched her head, feeling a bit uneasy, apologizing: ”I thought with you here, Gu Bei couldn’t come back.”

Chen Zi sighed, looking helpless: ”Even if I leave, Chairman Cheng will find someone else. He won’t let Gu Bei come back. Little Taotie is Chairman Cheng’s favorite, and everyone knows it. She took on an all-night shoot, and Gu Bei hid it from him; Chairman Cheng got angry and transferred Gu Bei. It’s impossible to bring him back. Once you’ve been deceived, it’s hard to trust Gu Bei again.”

Sitian’s eyes widened: ”Transferred just because of this?”

”Why else?” Chen Zi sighed again: ”Chairman Cheng may look thick-browed and big-eyed, easy-going, but as the big boss, managing so much finance and personnel, do you really think he’s that simple, that easy-going? Behind the scenes...”

Chen Zi didn’t continue and gave Sitian a look to figure it out herself.

Sitian understood, instantly furious and fuming: ”Such a grown man, yet so petty! The all-night shoot was taken on by Little Taotie herself, and Gu Bei couldn’t do anything about it!”

Chen Zi lowered his eyes, obscuring their meaning.

”Sorry to have disturbed you, I’ll... I’ll leave now.” Sitian hurried off to gossip about Chairman Cheng with her best friend Sheng Nan.

Chen Zi nodded, waited for her to walk a bit further, then lightened his footsteps and followed her.

Sitian found Sheng Nan and immediately started complaining about Cheng Guodong, ”Gu Bei was caught between a rock and a hard place. It was Chairman Cheng who instructed him to listen to Little Taotie. Now, when something went wrong, he’s blaming Gu Bei! Really petty! Beep beep beep...”

Sheng Nan frowned, feeling something wasn’t right. Wasn’t Sitian going to trouble Chen Zi? Why is she badmouthing Chairman Cheng after coming back? If this gets to Chairman Cheng, he might really be petty.

Chen Zi secretly recorded the conversation, revealing a triumphant smile.

Muscle girl, don’t blame me for playing games with you! This is the workplace! You learn from your mistakes; in the future, don’t badmouth people behind their backs!
