The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 582: Chapter 582: Why is there no Spiritual Body

Xiangxiang also lowered her voice, ”What happened?”

Granny looked around cautiously and whispered, ”There was a terrorist attack, an explosion; many people died. The owner’s father and elder brother both perished.”

”Ah?” Xiangxiang feigned surprise, ”This place is really unlucky, then why rebuild here?”

”The owner is sentimental about the place; we advised him to change locations, but he refused.”

”Is the business doing well? After all, people who know what happened here should be quite superstitious and unlikely to come, right?”

Granny nodded, ”At first, the business was bad, the regular customers were superstitious and unwilling to come. Then some passersby who didn’t know about the past came to eat and found the food delicious, so they kept coming. Even after they learned about the past, they didn’t mind. Some of the regulars heard that the food here was very good, so a few of them came to try it, and little by little, the business picked up again. Mainly, it’s because the owner’s cooking is superb!”

”Does the owner cook himself?”

”Yes, they’re secret recipes, and the owner personally takes charge of the cooking; he doesn’t take apprentices either.”

After Granny finished clearing the table, Xiangxiang and Hua Jinyan exchanged glances, remaining silent.

They had already investigated the history behind this restaurant before coming.

It was a century-old establishment that had been passed down for three generations, and the secret recipe was rumored to have come from the imperial court, with an ancestor who had been a royal chef.

Before the explosion, the restaurant had been managed by the owner’s father, and the owner’s elder brother was being groomed to be the successor, while the owner himself had been vigorously educated, with both his father and elder brother urging him to study well and enter a different profession.

Indeed, the owner was scholarly material, consistently at the top of his class and had gotten into a very good university.

The records showed that he had never learned to cook; it was his elder brother that his father had trained.

But now, here he was, personally cooking, and his culinary skills were quite remarkable.

Something was strange!

Xiangxiang and Hua Jinyan both thought of this, but Little Taotie, completely oblivious, didn’t give it much thought.

Once back in the car, Xiangxiang spoke up, ”This case seems a bit off.”

Hua Jinyan nodded, ”Indeed.”

The paper figure crime had been categorized as a supernatural event and taken over by the Special Department.

At the time, the case was closed, with the paper figures disappearing into ash, the matter resolved.

The police had proclaimed to the public that the case was the action of a terrorist, and thus closed.

But now, something was amiss. Xiangxiang, with a woman’s sixth sense, felt there was something wrong with the owner!

A man who had never cooked was suddenly managing a century-old restaurant and taking charge of cooking after his father and elder brother died.

Many people would avoid a place marred by an explosion; even if one were to reopen a shop, wise people wouldn’t choose the same location.

Yet this owner had chosen the original address, and was unfazed when business was poor at first, as if he had calculated that business would definitely pick up later, completely confident in his cooking skills.

”I suspect... the owner might have been involved,” Xiangxiang said gravely.

Hua Jinyan nodded, ”Wasn’t he investigated back then?”

Xiangxiang frowned, ”He should have been, but after it was classified as a supernatural event, they usually don’t keep an eye on people, and some details might have been overlooked.”

Little Taotie tilted his head, listening to every word they said, his little mind spinning rapidly.

As Xiangxiang and Hua Jinyan quieted down and fell into contemplation, Little Taotie suddenly spoke up, ”Why aren’t there any Spiritual Bodies?”

Hua Jinyan looked over sharply, a serious expression in his eyes, ”With such a big explosion, and so many deaths, it’s impossible for there to be no Spiritual Bodies in the rebuilt restaurant!”

Little Taotie nodded his little head, ”It’s so strange, have they all reincarnated? Died untimely deaths, and is there really not even a trace of resentment?”
