Chapter 1064 - 930: It Was a Trap All Along (Page 2/3)

But it was not surprising. Mining was a business from nothing, involving huge profits, so who would be unblemished?

The land with the gold mine was swallowed later when the original owner’s family declined and had to lower the price to sell.

Kong Se’s ancestors didn’t use disgraceful means in this acquisition— at least the seller’s decline had nothing to do with them.

The Kongse Clan bought this land purely to connect several mining areas, making it easier for their management.

Moreover, this land had been thoroughly surveyed, and there were essentially no mineral veins.

The Kongse Clan had many mines to operate, so they didn’t send anyone to explore this one aggressively— it was left aside initially.

Unexpectedly, shortly after Kong Se assumed the title, an old friend came over wanting to buy a piece of land.

Their relationship was indeed good; not only were they schoolmates, but they also experienced battles together.

But Kong Se awkwardly stated, that this is ancestral property and can’t be sold, choose another, and I can sell it to you at half price.

The friend, however, stated that he wanted to buy a bit more so that it connects with the outside world, instead of being surrounded by your mines.

Kong Se still insists on not selling, but he also said that if you can clearly explain the purpose, he might consider cooperating with you on investment.

In a society where interests are paramount, this request isn’t too much.

Selling is impossible, but cooperation on development is fine. The key is that your information must be valuable.

The other party responded by saying he just wanted to gamble on luck; if there’s no gold, then they’ll go into farming and breeding.

At that time, Kong Se thought this friend was really baffling, saying that since you’re not telling the truth, let’s just leave it at that.

However, despite saying this, his curiosity was completely piqued—what exactly is this guy up to?

So he sent people to gather information, and simultaneously dispatched a prospecting team to search for minerals.

In the blink of an eye, several years passed, and the prospecting team didn’t find anything.

The total area was a mere hundred square kilometers, a tiny place, so probing it was really easy.

Kong Se didn’t take it to heart; prospecting is like this, sometimes you gain, sometimes you lose.

Just when he was about to forget the matter, rumors circulated that the land did indeed have minerals, discovered by the previous owner.

It’s just that the minerals were too precious, and they dared not extract them. Later generations did not receive the related information and cluelessly sold the land.

After hearing the news, Kong Se felt oddly suspicious—how could such a message reach my ears?

He secretly sent people to investigate, only to be astonished to discover the source of the rumors was actually the grandson of the original seller!

Upon further investigation, he was even more shocked to find out his old friend had previously bought books from the seller’s grandson!

So this clue connected the whole story.

Kong Se, feeling he could still communicate with his old friend, directly approached him and said, ”You sly devil, trying to take advantage right on my turf?”

He was straightforward, and the other party was frank too, saying if mineral revenues are high, how much would you share with me if I told you directly?

This question truly strikes the heart, considered a dilemma in most parts of the world.

From Kong Se’s perspective, the land ownership is his, and so is the mining right. If there really are minerals, he would find them eventually.

The other party, just with a piece of information, wanted to earn a lot; isn’t that crazy poor?

Instead, the opposite party thought: I have an information monopoly, if you don’t offer enough, I’m not telling you!

Of course, you could slowly discover it, but isn’t wealth accumulation better done sooner?

Later, Lord Kong Se promised to give the other party 30% shares in exchange for mineral information.

On the day the gold vein was found, Kong Se personally took action and killed his old friend.

He didn’t consider himself ruthless; the other party tried to take advantage first and then asked for a fortune.

However, the old friend wasn’t completely unguarded and somehow managed to record his own encounter on video.

At that time, the video wasn’t sent and remained in a local surveillance camera, only to be forwarded a year later.
