Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 583: Chapter 4 More Radical! [Subscription Requested] _2

The people of Earth City finally snapped out of their joy of victory, staring at the raging fire that continued to blaze and the ruins scattered around them, even the corpses that were unrecognizable. All life forms were a bit dazed at this moment.

Though wars in the Gold Desert often involved tens of thousands of people, when have they ever witnessed such horrific scenes? A small Earth City had provoked an attack from the Police Alliance Army as well as battleships of the Auster people! This incident was one of the most horrifying in the history of the Gold Desert.

Each corpse spoke of the misery of this war. Despite Earth City’s victory, it was nothing short of a pyrrhic one. At this point, only about a seventh of the original inhabitants of Earth City remained; the rest either died or fled. The city’s population was now fewer than ten thousand.

However, most of these people had lived through the horrors of war. Even those lacking in strength had gained experience, ensuring they wouldn’t panic if faced with such a catastrophe again.

Those remaining in Earth City were resolved to stay with this force. Whatever their reasons, these people did not flee during the battle and many even contributed their strength to the defense of the city. Therefore, Daphne could trust them. She quickly delegated some important tasks with no reservations about her trust.

Some of the strong ones along with a portion of those chasing the security officer’s aircraft hadn’t returned, some probably never would. After all, not everyone was a fool. Even though Earth City was victorious, Big Mosquito had destroyed an Auster battleship. Making an enemy of the Auster civilization was far from a simple matter as their power was unmatched by the officers!

Let those who left, leave. No matter the reason they stayed, Daphne showed them kindness.

She understood that before, Earth City mostly maintained control through coercion and threats, but now, those who remained might have developed a stronger sense of belonging to the city after surviving the war.

Most members of Earth City were now spontaneously fighting the fire and saving the injured. Their sense of belonging to Earth City had indeed strengthened considerably.

”Kaga, let’s go back and see. Uncle Luca and the others might still be alive.”

Two little children were supporting each other, slowly walking amongst the ruins. Surrounded by enormous alien corpses, they searched around, trying to mimic the adults and rescue any injured they could find.

Lulu seemed to have a strong attachment to the creatures in the bar. She now grabbed Kaga and began to move towards where the bar once stood in her memory.

Kaga withheld the urge to say anything as he knew that Lulu knew the outcome but refused to accept the reality.

Perhaps his little companion wouldn’t give up unless she saw the results with her own eyes. Kaga did not refuse and followed Lulu past several ruins until they reached the building that once housed the bar.

The place had long been turned into a sea of fire by the sheriff’s Red Light Attack.

Probably due to additional attacks, the place was almost completely annihilated, leaving only a few collapsed walls and a half-buried bar counter.

Upon arriving, Lulu’s bright eyes filled with the glimmer of oncoming tears. Upon seeing the charred octopus body of Boss Luca, her teary eyes gave way to a stream of tears.

She tenderly stepped around, discovering the bodies of the orphaned children they used to play with, the patrons of the bar. Their bodies were horribly mutilated, blasted apart by the explosions and burned by the fire, their identities unrecognizable.

”Lulu, let’s go. There will be adults that come to bury them later.” It seemed as though Kaga didn’t want to see Lulu this distressed and attempted to comfort the little bunny-eared girl.

”No! They just said they wanted to hear me sing. I didn’t get a chance to, so now is my chance to make it up to them!” Lulu stubbornly refused.

She found the bar table she used to hide under, which had now been reduced to half its size.

Lulu climbed onto the table. The legs groaned under her weight, but after some wobbling, it held up.

The little bunny-eared girl sat at the edge of the bar, looking at the horrific bodies in front of her, tears welling up in her eyes. She then looked up at the dazzling starry sky that still shone brightly despite the carnage below. She began to sing a song to mourn the dead...
