The metal monster in front of him, unknowingly hit in its critical spot, tilted its head and remarkably stopped moving!

Fan Haofei wiped the blood from his face and then leaned against the wall to sit down.

Beside him, his comrades lay in pools of blood.

Just to fight two metal monsters, they paid the price of a whole squad.

Fan Haofei looked at his surroundings and realized that he was in a ruined neighborhood where he once, as a construction worker, had helped a family install aluminum alloy windows!

He looked across.

The house of that family was in ruins now, far from the luxury mansion he remembered.

“Heh…war…” He thought back to when he first arrived in Shanghu, promising himself that one day he would earn a house like this in Shanghai City.

A bitter smile involuntarily crept up the corner of Fan Haofei’s mouth.

This smile on his face was a mixture of both laughter and tears.

It was as ugly as it could get.

How he wished he could open his eyes and everything would return to the way it was half a year ago.

Back then, he would call home one night a week, and every day, regardless of the time, he would have a game hanging on his computer.

The carefree days were gone forever.

“If I could go back, I would promise my family to return to work in the county.

Even if I have to give up four thousand, I would definitely go back.”

Fan Haofei’s fingers trembled.

He found his arm was covered in blood, and he couldn’t even hold his gun properly!

This arm was meant for holding construction tools, not weapons.

Without any hesitation, he cast aside the weapon that had no ammunition left, to the ground.

Click!

Click!!

Click…

Soft sounds emerged in the dark night.

Behind these sounds, were grotesque metal monsters!

Their bodies advanced closer, getting near to the young man drained of energy due to the battle, near to the man who was transformed from a common worker to a warrior due to the war.

Fan Haofei took a glimpse of the approaching metal monsters and smirked.

Spontaneity, that was his mood now.

In these six months, he had lived longer than his former comrades.

His family was out of contact now.

He felt there was no point in living.

Click, click.

The young man took out a lighter and a cigarette from his pocket.

Although the military strictly forbade it, the soldiers always found a way to carry cigarettes.

A burning flame lit up the cigarette.

The red light flickered fiercely in the dark alley.

As Fan Haofei took a drag on his cigarette, it felt as if he could go back to more than half a year ago when he was in his work clothes at the same location, doing the same thing.

The only difference was there were no metal monsters breathing down his neck, his family could be reached, the comrades around him were strangers, yet he would rather not know them than witness their deaths!

The metal monsters advanced even faster.

It wasn’t long before the red barrels of the monsters surrounded the young warrior in the dark.

Not more than two meters away, there was a circle of five metal monsters.

It seemed like they knew how weak this young warrior was, so they came right up to him.

Maybe they wanted to get close to kill the young human warrior!

Fan Haofei sluggishly watched the approaching metal monsters.

“There’s an option to resurrect and try again in the game, I wonder if the same option exists in reality?”

“What do you guys think?”

With a cigarette butt hanging from his mouth and a strange look in his eyes, Fan Haofei’s hands clutched a grenade within them.

Pulling the pin would prompt a devastating explosion!

It might not kill the metal monsters, but could at least cause them some damage!

What Fan Haofei was doing was what countless other warriors had done when their strength was exhausted and they had no fighting ability left!

He had witnessed his comrades making this move a few times before.

Despite being close by, he couldn’t save them.

Now, it was his turn!

Click!

The cannon on the head of the metal monster was about to emit a red glow!

And the pin that Fan Haofei pulled, was almost out!

Life or death, hinges on this moment!
