My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 398: Chapter 264: Manifestation of the Holy Mark - Pilgrimage of the Divine Envoy (2)

The little girl was terrified, her sobs heart-wrenching, but in this lawless land, her pleas to heaven and earth fell on deaf ears.

In India, evil acts of human sacrifice are not uncommon, with young girls being the most frequent victims. Such cases are often reported in the news.

And for every reported case, who knows how many more go unreported. Furthermore, India still preserves a very cruel ”tradition”—that of the ”Saintess.”

The ”Saintess” of India is anything but a noble station. The moment a girl is chosen, the gears of her tragic destiny begin to turn.

Typically, these are girls from impoverished families. Once they reach puberty, their families—out of financial desperation or other reasons—”sell” them to a temple.

From that moment on, these girls must forsake traditional marriage and dedicate their entire lives to a ”god.”

Not only must they serve the local villagers by performing religious ceremonies and prayers, but they are also forced to become the ”sex slaves” of the temple’s monks. So, despite bearing the title of ”Saintess,” their lives are anything but the glamorous existence people might imagine.

Eight-year-old Amisha was not a Saintess. Her parents doted on her. Though her family was poor and life was a struggle—with no delicious snacks, pretty clothes, or toys—she had her parents’ love, making her childhood a relatively happy one. She had been kidnapped.

The blood from her wound had started to clot. A man in black stepped forward and made another shallow cut with a dagger, quickening the flow. Amisha screamed and cried, but her terror only made the men more excited.

One man said to his companion, ”After the sacrifice, we can enjoy the little girl’s corpse.”

They were the type to not even spare a lizard, so how could they let a passably cute little girl go to waste?

Amisha fell into despair. Small as she was, all she could do was pray endlessly in her heart: ’Shiva God, Snow Mountain Goddess, Lucky Goddess... All you gods in the heavens, please save me! I, Amisha, have been devout since I was a child and have never done anything wrong...’

”The blood’s flowing too slowly. Let me speed it up.” The man grew impatient. He stood and walked toward Amisha, the dagger in his hand glinting with a cold light.

Just as he was about to slash the dagger viciously across Amisha’s neck, an earthen-yellow light erupted within the dilapidated Temple, illuminating the entire ruin. A pair of mysterious Armored Men emerged from the ground.

The moment the two burst from the ground, the thirteen Human Oil Lamps in the temple ignited at once, casting the tantric reliefs on the walls of the Kajuraho Temple in a grotesque light.

Even Luo Feifei was stunned by the sight.

The pair sprang into action.

The men in black were terrified and tried to flee. Vicious as they were, they were no match for mysterious figures who appeared out of the ground. This was divine intervention.

”Ice Blade·Seven Sorrows!”

Luo Feifei formed a sword-hand, and seven Ice Crystals instantly pierced the wrist of the man swinging the dagger. Frost spread through his veins, crawling over his entire body and freezing him into an ice sculpture.

Li Xiang stomped his foot, shattering the altar. The granite floor tiles billowed like a great wave, slamming the remaining villains against the temple wall, which was covered in carvings from the Kama Sutra.

The temple wall collapsed.

A heavily wounded man in black coughed up bloody froth, his hand trembling as it reached for a weapon at his waist in a last-ditch effort to fight back. Li Xiang whipped out his White Jade Golden Hook Rod and swung it down viciously. He struck in a fury, channeling tens of thousands of pounds of Giant Power into the blow, and instantly smashed the man into a bloody pulp.

Channeling his Spiritual Power, he gave the Jade Rod a sharp shake, slinging off the gore that stained it.

Eight-year-old Amisha watched, stunned. ’Did my prayers work?’ she thought. ’Did the gods send Divine Envoys to save me?’

Blood was still trickling from her neck. The little girl had lost so much that she was starting to hallucinate. In her eyes, Li Xiang and Luo Feifei were radiating light, shimmering with a divine aura.

The Divine Envoys had come to her rescue, and the villains were all dead. Amisha’s terror subsided, and with the last of her strength gone, she slipped into a state of semi-consciousness.
