Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 384: Chapter 212: The Goddess of Fortune Is Smiling_3

[Help the boss overcome the shadows of the past, don’t let the boss blame himself for our deaths, and if you encounter Mercury, give him a good punch in the face for me!]

As the Blood-Colored Will dissipated, he vaguely saw Zhuo Jie give him a thumbs-up and say, ”Awesome, well done!”

He didn’t have time to focus on the rewards from the Blood-Colored Will and turned to look at He Yun.

Dealing with Mercury was just to silence him; the true end depends on He Yun’s side.

Wu Chang shattered the Mercury puppet, also breaking He Yun’s last bit of hesitation. He Yun exchanged a glance with Wu Chang and gave a confident smile, signaling Wu Chang not to worry. She then turned to the Desire Stele to examine its contents.

It was only now that Wu Chang noticed, compared to the previous Desire Stele, the current one had many more entries, almost entirely filling the stele.

While He Yun was busy with her computer in front of the stele, He Yi explained the situation to Wu Chang on the side.

When they first discovered the power in the Stone Temple, He Yun had been trying to study and master this power, but manipulating it was extremely complex, as the Plane of the 88th Underground Shelter was essentially a Technology Plane.

Finding a path to Mysticism through technology was undoubtedly challenging.

But after a series of studies, He Yun really came up with a way.

She discovered that the Desire Stele itself was a rule. To some extent, the power within it had escaped the control of the deities worshiped in the Stone Temple.

If those primitive people who built the temple came to the Desire Stele to make a wish and offered sacrifices, it would not only be inefficient, but it wouldn’t be long before it would lead to the revival of the god in the Stone Temple.

He Yun’s solution was not to directly wish for something, but like programming, to write rules for using energy on the Desire Stele.

As long as a complete rule was written so they could use technology to leverage the power in the Desire Stele according to the rules, couldn’t they bypass the Desire Mother Goddess, make a few wishes, and benefit for a lifetime?

This set of rules is the embodiment of He Yun’s Plane Ascension plan.

During the development of this rule set, Mercury, an outsider knowledgeable in Mysticism, participated deeply in the process and left many pitfalls.

This resulted in many rule conflicts during the actual implementation of the plan, bringing the entire Underground Shelter to the brink of collapse.

The last entry into the Stone Divine Hall was He Yun’s attempt to make final modifications to the rules, to see if everything could be salvaged.

But under Mercury’s influence, the final rescue plan instead made the Underground Shelter completely controlled by Mercury.

Now, with Mercury out of the way, He Yun, free from external influences, quickly made progress.

To systematically control the power in the Desire Stele, He Yun wrote a total of eighteen rules. Based on the performance when the ascension plan failed and her intentional and unintentional research on the abilities of the Calamity Fog over the years, He Yun quickly sorted out the loopholes and conflicts in the rules.

But at the last step, she stopped.

”Having trouble?” Wu Chang asked.

He Yun looked troubled and said, ”The last three rules have mutually exclusive underlying logics, like an impossible triangle. I have to delete one of the erroneous rules.”

”But whichever one I delete will trigger a huge chain reaction, and I can’t determine which situation is optimal right now. Fortunately, I still have time to think of a new algorithm.”

Wu Chang walked up behind He Yun, placed his hand on hers, which was resting on the keyboard, and whispered in her ear:

”A choice of three, right?”

He Yun blushed slightly, avoiding the warm breath by her ear, her voice a bit softer, ”Yes, just deleting one of them will allow my newly built rules to run perfectly.”

Wu Chang said, ”Then leave it to me.”

He Yun curiously looked at Wu Chang, ”Can you tell which one is the problem?”

Wu Chang shook his head, ”Can’t tell.”

”Then how will you choose?” He Yun asked, puzzled.

Wu Chang produced three dice, smiling, ”By luck, of course. I’ve already seen the Goddess of Fortune smiling.”
