The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

A streak of light was flung out from the mouth of the Dragon and Phoenix Valley’s abyss. On the Decree List inside the valley, Chen Dong’s name had vanished, and Wang Wan’Er had taken his place at the top.

Sect Leader Feng had been waiting alone in the square for a long time. When Chen Dong landed, he walked forward with a smile and said, ”Congratulations, Junior Brother, for comprehending the complete Dragon and Phoenix Treasure Manual. You are a peer to the founder!”

Chen Dong was puzzled. ”Junior Brother?”

Mu Qingzhu’s consciousness spoke up from within him: ’That old fox Feng Fu doesn’t want you to steal his son’s Daoist position, and he certainly isn’t going to give you the Nirvana Scripture to cultivate. But he can’t let you leave, either. So he’s planning to forcibly raise your seniority by a generation. That way, he can win you over without breaking the sect’s rules. Killing several birds with one stone!’

Just as Mu Qingzhu had said, Feng Fu chuckled. ”Junior Brother, you have comprehended the complete Dragon and Phoenix Treasure Manual and are a Saint. How could we let you remain a twenty-sixth-generation disciple? Even making you my peer would be a slight to you!”

’I never wanted to join the Qixia Sect in the first place, and I have no interest whatsoever in becoming the Daoist. If I had entered the Dragon and Phoenix Valley and comprehended nothing, or maybe just one or two of the great techniques, it would have been fine. The great techniques cannot be spoken or written, so there’d be no fear of them being leaked. But since I comprehended the entire Dragon and Phoenix Treasure Manual at once, Feng Fu will never let me go.’

’With my current strength, I can’t possibly escape. Feng Fu is a Nascent Soul Stage expert, after all. I can only go along with whatever he says.’

Chen Dong immediately bowed. ”Greetings, Sect Leader-Senior Brother!”

Feng Fu’s smile widened. He continued, ”Ordinarily, Junior Brother comprehending the complete Dragon and Phoenix Treasure Manual would be a grand event for the entire sect, worthy of a great celebration. However, the sect’s current situation is not optimistic, so we will keep things simple. I hereby bestow upon you the position of Honorary Elder!”

After speaking, he took out an Elder Token and handed it to Chen Dong.

Chen Dong accepted the jade token. The front was engraved with the characters for ”Qixia Sect” amidst a hollowed-out pattern of red clouds, while the back was inscribed with the two words ”Chen Dong.” ’He must have prepared this in advance,’ he thought. ’Feng Fu probably had this planned ever since I comprehended the fourth technique.’

”What do you mean, ’the sect’s situation is not optimistic’?” Chen Dong asked directly. This concerned his own survival, after all.

Feng Fu’s face showed no trace of tension. ”Ah, it’s nothing serious. The Wangyou Sect and the Black Dragon Sect are just causing some trouble for us. As long as Junior Brother doesn’t leave the sect, it’s a trivial matter!”

Clearly, Feng Fu had the current situation under control.
