The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2563: Chapter 2563: Dongan Town (Part 3)

”Big sister, are there really man-eating big fish down there?” Sini turned her head to ask Yang Ruxin, ”Don’t big fish eat small fish? How would they eat people?”

Yang Ruxin laughed, ”There are indeed fish that eat people, just like tigers, leopards, and wolves. If they eat meat, they might eat humans too, since humans have meat. But whether there are man-eating fish in the Dayuan River is unclear.”

A few of the younger ones became noticeably more cautious upon hearing this.

The canal is still bustling with boats passing by. Sometimes you can even hear the crew from our boat and other approaching boats greeting each other, clearly familiar with one another.

After sailing for most of the day, the initial excitement mellowed out, and everyone returned to their rooms to rest.

”You’ll probably spend a lot of time in Beijing in the future, so should we build a more advanced boat? Traveling by water is much faster than by carriage,” Yang Ruxin discussed with Gu Qingheng while sitting in the room. ”If we have our own boat, we can move freely.” But having just a boat isn’t enough; to navigate on the canal, procedures are necessary, requiring the Governor’s Office and the Canal Gang’s permission. The Governor’s Office is no problem, but dealing with the Canal Gang could be tricky since it’s not purely a governmental department; it’s more of a guild with a touch of the underworld, though they do work for the government.

”That’s indeed a good idea,” Gu Qingheng nodded. ”Leave it to me.” After all, the family isn’t lacking money, and having a good boat would be convenient. Additionally, we should also build two better, more comfortable carriages.

There’s a cook onboard, but Yang Ruxin didn’t use her, preferring to personally oversee the preparation of family meals every day, using ingredients from her own space.

It brings the most delight to a few elderly relatives; they’ve tirelessly followed Xinxin for what? Naturally, it’s for the food! As long as the food is good, nothing else matters.

Tian Ba doesn’t mind these things, since the family provides enough silver, and whether it’s used or not is up to them. Besides, he’s always included whenever a meal is prepared, and after tasting it once, he found that the madam’s cooking is too delicious, making him feel like everything else is pig feed.

Initially, Yang Ruxin worried that the three little ones might struggle with being on a boat. But after three days, they showed not a hint of discomfort. They ate when it was time to eat, slept when it was time to sleep, and when awake, they particularly loved being carried around the deck, soaking in the sights. Occasionally, they would let out a few ”ah-ah” sounds, as if having a discussion among themselves, amusing the spectators.

”Master and madam, we’ll be stopping here for half a day to replenish some ingredients and fresh water.” In the afternoon, the boat halted near a town called Dongan, ”This Dongan Town is the largest town alongside the canal on the way to Beijing, and it’s quite lively. You can wander around if you like, just make sure to return before sunset.”

Yang Ruxin nodded, having been cooped up on the boat for three days was indeed frustrating: ”Then we’ll come back after dinner.”

”Alright,” Tian Ba nodded, ”But, Master and madam, while you’re exploring, try to avoid the local Ground Snakes, or you might get into trouble.” Over these few days, although the family had been quite low-key, he noticed their uniqueness, especially the gentleman, who was strikingly handsome yet exuded a steely aura—the kind that only comes from having a history of bloodshed. Hence, he deliberately wanted to make a connection.
