The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1159: Chapter 1159: Treasure Map (5)

”Miss Yang,” Du Juan started, once Yang Ruxin had finished browsing through whatever held her interest, ”I wonder if you’ve ever heard of the legends from the previous dynasty?” She got to her feet, dressing herself properly before lifting her gaze to Yang Ruxin.

”Which previous dynasty are you referring to?” Yang Ruxin asked, her eyebrows lifted slightly.

”After the fall of the Northern Song, it was only natural for King Kang, Zhao Gou, to ascend the throne in Yingtian Prefecture. However, he was cunningly outmaneuvered by Zhao Cheng...” Du Juan sighed, ”After Zhao Gou established the Great Qian Dynasty, he originally intended to kill King Kang. Well-aware that his days were numbered, King Kang, after years of careful preparation, refused to sit idly by and definitely wouldn’t let Zhao Cheng take everything he owned. Therefore, he secretly split the treasure map of his wealth into six parts, tattooing them onto the bodies of his six personal maids....”

Yang Ruxin’s brow furrowed, ”You mean to say, the tattoo on your back is King Kang’s treasure map?”

Du Juan nodded, ”The six maids were each dispatched by the guards to go separate ways, and among those saved was also the three-year-old Princely Heir of King Kang...”

Yang Ruxin had indeed heard of these legends from the previous dynasty, but she had always regarded them as mere stories, without taking them to heart. It wasn’t until she encountered King Kang’s tomb in the mountains that she started to believe them somewhat. Now, discovering that there were additional secrets, it implied that there should be another treasure buried somewhere. Whether the previously found tomb of King Kang was real or fake was now up for debate.

The Princely Heir of King Kang, after being rescued, was raised by the guard and later gathered strength in an attempt to overturn the Great Qian Dynasty. He sent a beautiful spy into the palace to seduce Zhao Cheng, and simultaneously, he poisoned Zhao Cheng’s son. Unexpectedly, his plan was thwarted when the Yuan Family took the opportunity to establish the Great Han Dynasty. The descendants of the Zhao Family failed to restore their rule yet again and were forced to concede, albeit biding their time for another attempt. But the people of the Yuan Family were no saints either; once they were in power, they began to indulge in luxury, and after a few internal schemes, their conflicts became evident, leading to their swift decline. Nonetheless, the Zhao Family still failed to reach the pinnacle of power, being preempted by the Qi family this time.

However, Emperor Gaozu, the founder of the Great Xuan Dynasty, was very wise. Upon establishing the dynasty, he began to heal and rejuvenate the land, reducing taxes to encourage farming and improving the treatment of soldiers. He was even more stringent with himself. Hence, the Zhao Family’s undermining efforts were not only ineffectual; they were actually suppressed by Emperor Gaozu. Emperor Gaozong, who came after, continued Emperor Gaozu’s policies, and the national strength of the Xuan Dynasty gradually began to rise. Now, under Emperor Xuanjing, the people can be said to truly live in peace and happiness....”

With so much water under the bridge, the descendants of King Kang no longer harbored the same determination to fight for the crown. However, the descendants of Zhao Cheng were not willing to give up. They longed to restore their past glory, and to claim kingship, they needed wealth. So, they remembered King Kang’s treasure....”

”Are you saying that those chasing you are the descendants of Zhao Cheng?”

”Most likely, since Zhao Cheng was King Kang’s confidant and the only one who knew about the treasure.” Du Juan nodded. ”Our names have been passed down from our ancestors. No matter who our fathers are, once chosen, we can only bear these names through the generations....”

Yang Ruxin nodded in understanding. The ancients placed great value on faith and pledges, a promise could be honored for centuries. It truly was admirable, especially since such virtues are often lacking in the rapidly developing economies of later generations.

”Shaoyao is dead now,” Du Juan said, casting a regretful glance at Yang Ruxin. ”Before she died, she made the long journey from Song Manor to find me in Xing County....”
