Chapter 927: Chapter 927: Out of Danger (Extra Chapter for 300 Monthly Tickets)

Having noticed Yang Ruxin’s distraction, Gu Qingheng bit her gently.

”Ouch.” Yang Ruxin snapped back to reality.

”You’re distracted!” Gu Qingheng felt somewhat aggrieved, ”Am I not being passionate enough?”

”No!” Yang Ruxin quickly shook her head. She could feel the changes in his body, so she dared not continue, fearing it would do him harm, ”It’s because the environment isn’t right; this is someone else’s house, and it’s already daylight...”

Gu Qingheng let out a breath, then buried his head into Yang Ruxin’s neck. After quite some time, he finally calmed the tremors in his body, and then rolled out of the kang bed.

”I’ll go check on that young man.” Yang Ruxin also got up, straightened her clothes, and went to the opposite room.

To avoid disturbing Yang Ruxin and others’ rest, those people had toughed it out in one room for the better part of the night, and were now all up. Upon seeing Yang Ruxin enter, they all quickly stood up.

”Has he vomited blood?” Yang Ruxin scanned Dan Jiabao’s body, noting that the internal wounds were largely healed but would still need time to fully recover.

”He vomited twice.” Granny Li hurriedly brought out a handkerchief.

”That’s congealed blood.” Yang Ruxin looked at the dark blood, nodded slightly, ”He will vomit a few more times. He has to get it all out.” She proceeded to take out a porcelain bottle, ”There are three Medicine Pills inside. He will probably wake up tonight, give him one when he does, and then another every 24 hours for three days, and he’ll be fine. However, as the saying goes, ’an injury to the muscles and bones will take a hundred days to heal,’ he must rest for three months...”

”Miss Yang, you are our family’s great benefactor...” Granny Li was filled with emotion, ”From now on, I’m willing to do any work for you...”

”That’s because you showed kindness to us first, which allowed me to help you,” Yang Ruxin waved her hand dismissively, ”Granny, you should understand better than I that certain actions lead to certain consequences.”

”Yes.” Granny Li smiled, ”You must be hungry, right? I’ve already made some porridge, and I’ll bring it over to you...”

Everyone quickly washed up and started having their meal.

Yang Ruxin was indeed hungry. She took the bowl of porridge and began to drink, but after a few sips, she noticed two eggs at the bottom of the bowl, and obviously, there were eggs in Gu Qingheng’s and Lin Xiwang’s bowls as well.

”We haven’t got much to offer, but we do have eggs. Please don’t be shy, they were laid by our own hens...” Granny Li quickly explained.

”Yes, eat up...” Old man Dan also hospitably urged with a chuckle.

After the meal, as Dan Jiabao was out of danger, everyone was in a mood to chat.

”How did he get so severely injured?” Yang Ruxin asked casually.

The faces of Dan Shugen and Xun Gang immediately darkened.

Dan Shugen shook his head: ”I don’t know either.”

Dan Shugen, his son Dan Jiabao, and their relative Xun Gang, were originally working for a wealthy Zhuang family in the county town. In fact, during the slack farming season, everyone would go do temporary work. They had been working for the Zhuang family for two years and everything had been fine, until five days ago when the Manager told them to go to the town to help with building an annex. The project was supposed to end around the 27th or 28th of the twelfth lunar month, but the work pay would be double. Naturally, father and son were pleased, as their home was close by.

However, just yesterday evening, the Manager said it was too cold to continue with the annex, but they would still pay, and told everyone to disperse. Yet, he kept three of the younger men, saying they needed to help for one more day, and gave each of them a piece of Silver.
