The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 764: Chapter 739: Too Impetuous

This noble lady’s husband has just been transferred from out of town to the Capital City. This is their first time attending such a grand event, feeling both envious and somewhat regretful.

When she married, she immediately left the Capital City with her husband and has been away for fifteen years. Returning now, she naturally feels a sense of change in familiar places.

Her son is twenty-one, and her daughter is seventeen, both still unmarried. It’s said that Mrs. Li waited for her husband’s transfer to the Capital City, planning to arrange marriages once settled here.

Seizing the rare opportunity, she brought both her son and daughter along.

She was truly hopeful, wishing that her son and daughter might find their destined partners, occasionally glancing eagerly towards the South Hall and North Hall.

She pondered and then glanced at Mrs. Xia.

Her husband holds a Third Rank position, which should be promoted to First Rank upon arrival in the Capital City. Prime Minister Xia is First Rank; isn’t that aiming too high?

However, her son is the eldest legitimate son, and the lady in question is merely Prime Minister Xia’s niece, so upon reflection, it doesn’t seem too ambitious.

Thus, Mrs. Li deliberately changed her seat to be closer to Mrs. Xia and said, ”Mrs. Xia, does your niece’s father also serve in the Capital City?”

Mrs. Xia glanced at Mrs. Li and smiled, ”No, he doesn’t!”

”What a fresh and lively young lady, almost echoing the dignified elegance of the Prime Minister’s Wife! If you hadn’t mentioned she’s your niece, I would have assumed she’s your daughter.”

Such obvious flattery made not only Mrs. Xia smile but also the others around.

Princess Ning chuckled, ”Mrs. Li, you truly have a way with words. It seems among so many, you only had eyes for Mrs. Xia’s niece!”

She stressed the word ”niece.”

Mrs. Li awkwardly laughed, ”Of course not, we just happened to be discussing Miss Xia!”

After a while, she softly said, ”Mrs. Xia, my son is twenty-one this year. He takes after me and is quite handsome. What do you think of your niece...”

Mrs. Xia interrupted with a smile, ”Mrs. Li, young people should handle their own matters!”

Princess Ning covered her mouth with a smile and said, ”Mrs. Li, matters of love are predetermined by the Moon God. There’s no need to worry too much, or else it would be a mess of mismatched pairs!”

Mrs. Li realized she was being too hasty. Princess Ning’s comment made her feel even more awkward.

In the depths of Princess Ning’s eyes, a trace of disdain flickered. This Mrs. Li indeed comes from a remote place. Even as an official’s wife, she lacks the sophistication compared to those imbued with the elegance of the Capital City.

She’s not presentable at all!

Why is she in such a hurry?

The son of a mere Third Rank official, why all this bustling? Why hasn’t Second Young Master from Prince Liang Mansion arrived yet?

The East Hall is a great spot as it provides a clear view of young men and women heading towards the South and North Halls. Naturally, the South and North Halls form the other two angles of the triangular setup. Through the doorway, one can still see the scenes from the other two halls.

Princess Ning squinted, smiling as she watched those young gentlemen gracefully display their charm and the poised elegance of the noble ladies, a truly delightful sight.

However, why hasn’t that person come yet?

Princess Ning had been watching all along, holding high regard for Huangfu Yuxuan. It is heard that Prince Liang intends to bypass the eldest legitimate son and appoint him as the Princely Heir.

This young man indeed excels far beyond his elder brother.

Suddenly, there seemed to be a slight commotion from the South Hall. Subsequently, a young attendant led a young man towards the North Hall. Several ladies appeared in the South Hall, standing by the door, watching with infatuated eyes as the young man, warm and graceful as jade, tall and slender, walked into the North Hall.
