Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045: When Has the Young Master Ever Cared So Much About Anyone?

Forty minutes later, the old butler returned with the doctor.

The doctor began conducting a medical checkup on Old Master Li.

After quietly tidying up the room, Chi Enen carried the empty bowl out. During the entire process, she neither purposely went over to assist nor hovered around the doctor, peppering him with questions to show her concern.

Old Master Li noticed her silent retreating figure, the emotions in his sharp eyes becoming increasingly complex.

He seemed to have a headache. After staring for a few seconds, he closed his eyes again.

Once the doctor finished the routine checkup, he stood up respectfully and said, ”Old Master Jue’s body is not in serious trouble. It’s just that his emotions have fluctuated too much in the past few days, causing pent-up frustration and congestion in the chest. Combined with poor sleep at night and catching a cold from the wind, it resulted in this illness. This mostly requires rest and taking medications on time, and he should recover. However...”

The old butler immediately pressed, ”However, what?”

The doctor hesitated briefly, then steeled himself and continued, ”Ultimately, Old Master Jue’s cold is superficial. The core issue lies with his emotional distress. To recover quickly, the most important thing is to adjust his emotional state. Once his mood improves, his body will naturally recover.”

The elderly man leaning on the huge luxurious bed seemed like he hadn’t heard anything. His eyes remained closed. Yet even with his eyes shut, he emitted an overwhelming sense of authority—a natural, innate air of dominance! Proud and unapproachable!

The old butler, seeing no reaction, wasn’t sure if the master took the doctor’s words to heart. However, he didn’t dare ask further and simply escorted the doctor out first.

Then he returned, took out the medication prescribed by the doctor, set it aside, poured a cup of water, walked over, and said softly, ”Old Master Jue, please take the medicine first. After taking it, you should rest.”

He added another line, ”By the way, when I went to fetch the doctor, I asked Miss Chi to help look after you. Miss Chi mentioned she wanted to cook porridge for you. Did you have some? If not, I will arrange for it to be made immediately. You shouldn’t take medication on an empty stomach.”

”Since when does it take you over an hour just to call a doctor?” Old Master Jue suddenly opened his eyes sharply, his piercing gaze landing on the old butler’s face. ”I’ve told you before not to act on your own accord. You’ve followed me for decades without ever breaking protocol. Why, this time, did you disregard the rules just to help her?”

”You’ve been with me for so many years, so you should know my temperament well. You also know the consequences of what you’ve done. What has she offered you? No—what has moved you so much that you’d risk provoking my anger just to assist her?”

The old butler, subjected to the harsh questioning, quickly lowered his head, guilt-ridden, and said, ”I’m sorry, Old Master Jue.”

”I want to know why you did it.” The questions Old Master Jue asked became even sharper, but surprisingly, he appeared calm rather than furious, exuding an unexpected air of serenity.

The old butler glanced up at him briefly before lowering his gaze again. In a quiet voice, he said, ”Miss Chi’s character truly leaves nothing to criticize. She has a very good temperament and complements the young master very well. But the real reason I decided to act this way wasn’t because of Miss Chi—it’s because of...”

”Hmm?”

The old butler took a deep breath and spoke honestly, ”It’s because of the young master.”

”I can see that the young master genuinely likes Miss Chi. Last night, the young master even folded a thousand paper cranes for her. He braved the rain and personally went into the water to retrieve them. I’ve watched the young master grow up, and when has he ever cared about someone this much? Honestly, aside from Miss Chi, I haven’t seen him be like this with anyone else.”
