Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 997: Chapter 997: Old Master Li Wants to See Her Alone

”Stop wasting time and hurry up!” Li Beijue frowned, and the muscles on his back tensed even more.

The doctor hesitated, then took a syringe from the medical kit and administered a shot of anesthetic. Only then did he start treating the wound.

The powerful sedative in the anesthetic took effect, causing Li Beijue to gradually close his eyes.

Chi Enen noticed that even with the anesthetic, his eyebrows remained knit tightly, and she felt a pang of deep heartache. She turned to the doctor and asked, ”Do you need me to help?”

”Miss Chi, could you get me a basin of warm water?” The doctor responded without looking back.

”All right.”

Chi Enen dashed off, returning quickly with the warm water. The doctor handed her a stack of sterilized gauze and said, ”Miss Chi, please help wipe the bloodstains around Master Jue’s wounds.”

He added, ”Make sure not to let any water touch Master Jue’s wounds.”

”Got it.” Chi Enen had helped treat similar wounds for Li Beijue before, so she was somewhat experienced.

She dampened the gauze, wrung it out carefully, and began gently wiping around the wounds on his back. The whip marks crisscrossed his back, with gaping wounds about the width of her thumb, looking shockingly gruesome. Just the sight of his mangled, bloody back was enough for Chi Enen to vividly imagine how excruciatingly painful that whip must have been when it struck him.

As her fingertips brushed against his back, she could even feel the subtle spasms in his muscles.

It was undoubtedly his body’s instinctive response to the extreme pain from the wounds.

Chi Enen tried to be as gentle as possible, afraid to touch the wounds and cause him further pain.

The coagulated bloodstains around his wounds weren’t easy to remove. It took Chi Enen a full 20 minutes to finally clean them up.

The doctor had already hooked up the anti-inflammatory drip for Li Beijue.

Once she was done wiping, he immediately disinfected Li Beijue’s wounds, applied wound ointment, and administered a tetanus shot.

Only after finishing all this did he wipe the sweat off his forehead and say, ”It’s done, Miss Chi. Master Jue received an anesthetic shot, so he’ll need to rest for a few hours. During this time, try not to disturb him; let him get some proper sleep.”

”Understood.”

Even if the doctor hadn’t said so, Chi Enen wouldn’t dare to disturb Li Beijue.

The doctor packed up his things, grabbed his medical kit, and said to Chi Enen, ”Miss Chi, Old Master Jue wants to see you. He told me to bring you to him once Master Jue fell asleep. What do you think?”

Li Beijue’s grandfather wanted to see her?

Didn’t they just meet earlier?

And besides, hadn’t the doctor mentioned earlier that the butler was the one who had sent him over?

Chi Enen wasn’t naïve; she immediately understood what was going on.

It seemed that the one who had arranged for the doctor to treat Li Beijue’s wounds wasn’t the butler after all, but Old Master Li. As for why the doctor had initially claimed the butler had sent him, it was likely under orders from Old Master Li himself.

Chi Enen suddenly realized that being contradictory might just be a genetic trait. From Old Master Li to Li Beijue to her own Baby Chi, every single one of them shared the exact same kind of duplicitous nature!

Thinking of Baby Chi brought a faint smile to the corner of her mouth, and her gaze softened. She raised her head gracefully and replied to the doctor with polite decorum, ”Sure, please lead the way.”

The doctor had been worried that she might refuse since Master Jue wasn’t around, but seeing her agree so easily, he heaved a sigh of relief and picked up his medical kit. ”Of course.”

He walked ahead, leading the way. ”Miss Chi, this way, please.”

Chi Enen followed him to the doorway but suddenly seemed to remember something. She called out to the doctor, ”Wait for me a moment.”
