Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 992: Chapter 992: Who Stopped It?

The Old Butler did not expect his carefully concealed actions to still be discovered.

His eyes flickered with panic, and he lowered his head. ”Apologies, Old Master Jue.”

Soon, he lifted his head again, his tone deepening. ”But...”

If the three whips truly strike, the young master will be hurt!

He was just about to risk punishment to voice what he wanted to say when his wrist was grabbed by the man with a pale yet impeccably handsome face.

Li Beijue shook his head at him, signaling him not to speak. ”A mistake is a mistake. I am willing to accept the punishment.”

Because of his personal affairs, he had caused irreparable damage to the family and made a mistake—an undeniably grave decision.

A mistake is a mistake. Accepting punishment was only his due.

On this point, he had no objections.

So, from the very beginning, he had no intention of defending himself.

For Chi Enen, he could afford to bear the consequences!

”Young Master...” The Old Butler had not expected him to say such a thing. Shocked, he gradually understood his intentions. Gathering his anxious expression, a trace of relief crossed his face. ”Understood.”

Their conversation was clearly heard by Old Master Li. Originally, he had been feeling a sliver of disappointment toward Li Beijue’s obstinate behavior. At this moment, his pupils showed a trace of admiration.

If he truly did not grasp why he must endure these strikes of family discipline, that would be the moment he would feel utterly disappointed—disappointed to the point of seriously questioning whether he was still suitable as the family’s heir.

Now, it seemed, he had not let him down.

At least, he had not let him down completely.

It’s not the mistakes that people should fear, but the tendency to always find excuses for making them.

If everything requires an explanation, then any error can be justified with excuses. Such a person will always end in failure!

The cracking sound of the whip splitting through the air this time landed squarely on the back. Li Beijue let out a muffled grunt, his foot instinctively staggering a step forward, followed by a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. His already pale face suddenly turned deathly white!

The Old Butler’s heart clenched with pain at the sight, but he had no choice but to proceed.

Thinking it was better to endure short-term pain rather than prolong it, he decisively struck a second whip without pause—

”Snap!”

Another sharp cracking sound of the whip echoed, and sweat began to bead on Li Beijue’s forehead. The clothes on his back had already been ripped apart, with crimson blood oozing out from inside.

He braced his arm against the table to maintain his balance, refusing to succumb to the force pressing against his back.

The Old Butler saw the cold sweat covering his forehead, his veins bulging, and felt an unbearable urge to stop. His grip on the whip instinctively tightened, and his gaze subconsciously turned toward the sofa—

Old Master Li sat upright and dignified, as if he didn’t react at all. But upon closer inspection, one could see his hands tightly gripping the walking stick; the faint details revealed his restrained tension.

This subtle detail was so fine that it was nearly imperceptible without careful observation!

The Old Butler didn’t notice his clenched hands. Gritting his teeth, he raised the whip. The third strike cut through the air—

Li Beijue felt his chest churn with turbulence.

At this moment, he was forcing himself to remain standing. If a third strike came, he would certainly be unable to endure it.

He tensed every muscle in his body, bracing himself for the imminent impact of the third whip upon his back!

Unexpectedly, the anticipated sensation of excruciating pain did not fall upon him. Instead, from behind came a crisp ”snap!”

The sound clearly belonged to the whip striking!

Who had intercepted it?
