The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”Could you please elaborate on what the core reasons are in this case?”

Upon hearing this series of questions, Director Chen Guan slightly lowered his head, clasped his hands on the desk, and responded, ”I thank this reporter for your question.”

”First of all, I would like to clarify that the investigation of criminal cases is never a straightforward, linear process.”

”It often involves repeated checks, rigorous analysis, and sometimes the overturning and reconstruction of initial judgments.”

”Specifically, in this case, during the initial stages, based on the on-site investigation and medical examination at the time, we leaned towards the deceased having died of natural causes.”

”Upon further reflection, this judgment indeed reveals that our initial investigation was not thorough enough and lacked a broad perspective, failing to capture some potential doubts in time.”

”However, the pursuit of truth by the police in a case never stops.”

”As the investigation progressed, particularly after the direct involvement and guidance from the provincial task force, we refined our investigation approach, expanded the scope of technical checks, and ultimately uncovered a series of new, crucial evidence chains.”

”It was the emergence of this new evidence that dispelled the previous uncertainties, guiding us to a completely different investigation direction, and finally revealing the full truth of the case.”

As soon as he finished speaking, another female reporter with glasses and a composed demeanor quickly raised her hand and asked, ”Just now, you repeatedly mentioned the crucial role of the task force and follow-up investigative work.”

”I would like to ask, the ’Mr. Jiang’ you mentioned, is he the Captain Jiang An of the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, previously honored as one of the ’Top Ten Legal Figures’ that moved the internet?”

Director Chen nodded affirmatively upon hearing this, saying, ”Yes, that’s right.”

As he spoke, he raised his arm, pointing clearly to Jiang An seated in the front row to the side.

”Captain Jiang An provided critically important professional support and key insights during the breakthrough phase of this case.”

Upon these words, a low murmur of discussion instantly arose within the venue, and the atmosphere notably livened up.

Seizing what seemed like an exclusive interview opportunity, the female reporter immediately turned to Jiang An, ”Hello, Captain Jiang An! It is an honor to have the chance to ask you a question directly.”

”We understand that during your time in Jiangcheng, you successfully solved multiple major and complex cases that garnered nationwide attention and earned deep trust from the public and praise from netizens.”

”Regarding this case in Guangling, we especially want to ask you: From the occurrence to the final resolution, the case took as long as half a year.”

”In your opinion, what were the main reasons for not solving the case in time initially?”

”Is it, as Director Chen said, primarily due to the emergence of new evidence and the upgrade of techniques later on?”

”Or are there deeper factors, such as the challenges of cross-regional cooperation, or issues with investigative resource allocation during the early stages?”

As soon as this question was raised, the scene became noticeably quieter.

Seated on the podium, both Chen Guan and Qin Feng involuntarily furrowed their brows slightly.

Although the reporter’s question was tactfully phrased, the undertone was sharp, directly touching on the sensitive issue of the lengthy investigation period, with an implicit suggestion of comparing investigative efficiency between regions, potentially embarrassing Guangling’s side.

Both of them unconsciously felt a wave of tension, their gazes simultaneously fixated on Jiang An, fearful that a careless answer from him might cause the half-year’s hard work of Guangling City Bureau to be misunderstood by the public as incompetence or negligence.

Even Director Hou, sitting to the side and coming from the provincial department, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anxiety for Jiang An.

This question is indeed tricky; answer it well, and everyone is happy;

Answer it poorly, and it could not only harm the reputation of their fellow unit but also affect Jiang An’s own upright, professional, and considerate public image.

This is undoubtedly a ”dilemma” type of question......
