The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”What is his name?” Zhang Biao hastily inquired.

”Chen Yong,” Chen Qiao recalled, ”but he left our factory many years ago.”

”When approximately did he resign?” Zhang Biao continued to ask.

”I really can’t remember the exact year, only that he left quite early, it’s been a long time.”

At this point, Zhang Biao turned around and looked at Manager Li, who had been standing quietly to the side, ”Manager Li, could you please help check Chen Yong’s employment and resignation time in the system? It’s very important to us.”

”No problem, just a moment.” Manager Li readily agreed and immediately sat in front of the computer, entering the name ”Chen Yong” in the employee management system.

In less than five minutes, he looked up and said, ”Found it. Chen Yong’s resignation time was two years later than Jiang Qin’s.”

”That early?” Zhang Biao said thoughtfully, ”So he didn’t work here for very long.”

”After that, did you hear anything about his whereabouts? Like where he worked later?”

”I’m not sure about that,” the other person shook their head, ”I seem to remember his hometown is in another area, he might have gone back home to develop.”

Hearing this, Zhang Biao slightly turned his body and looked at the police officer beside him, decisively instructing, ”In that case, use his ID number to check in the system to see if there’s any recent activity. We need to find this person.”

The officer immediately took out the police terminal and entered Chen Yong’s ID number for a search.

However, he immediately had a confused expression and said, ”Captain Zhang, something’s not right... this person has no life trajectory available, the system indicates his registration was canceled ten years ago.”

”Canceled?” Zhang Biao furrowed his brow, ”What is the reason? Does it say whether he’s deceased?”

”There’s no direct record of a death time, but the registration cancellation time is clear,” the officer reported while looking at the screen, ”Moreover, this cancellation time... is two months earlier than the death time of the person in the case we’re investigating.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Biao’s expression immediately became serious.

He took the officer’s phone to personally confirm the information on the screen.

Indeed, the black and white text clearly showed the time, exactly two months before the case occurred.

This discovery made his heart sink, what appeared to be an ordinary inquiry seemed to lead to an unexpected clue.

Too many inconceivables, too many unexpected twists, it’s as if an invisible net is wrapping the truth, making it difficult to touch.

After a long silence, Zhang Biao finally turned around and said, ”Thank you both for your help, much appreciated.”

”We will definitely pursue this case to the end, to give an explanation to the deceased.”

Hearing this, Chen Qiao took half a step forward, her voice filled with uncontrollable excitement, ”Officer, Jiang Qin really cared about her image in her life, dressed meticulously every day.”

”We’ve known each other for so many years, although we knew she sometimes loved face, had a bit of vanity, but her heart was softer and kinder than anyone else’s... Please be sure to catch the killer soon, let her rest in peace.”

”We’ll do our best.” Zhang Biao nodded, with a heavy frown between his brows.

He originally planned to ask his old classmates to cooperate in the arrest after identifying the suspect, but now the clues have ended, the plan failed, not only the action hit a dead end.

Zhang Biao did not say much else, just silently took out his phone and made a short farewell call to his old classmate.

After hanging up, he turned to the police officer beside him, his voice low but clear, ”Let’s go, back to the station first.”

The return police car sped along the highway, but the atmosphere inside was completely different from when they came.

Everyone gazed listlessly out the window, the confidence full of energy they had before had now been replaced by fatigue and confusion.

Just as the detectives often said: The hardest part of solving a case may not be how complex the case itself is, but that moment when you’ve exhausted all leads and lost direction, that sense of powerlessness at the endless road ahead.

Suddenly, a young officer in the back seat turned his head, breaking the silence in the car, ”Captain Zhang, this case gets more unexpected the more we dig.”

”Jiang Qin seemed so ordinary, yet who would have anticipated she had such a story, the waters run deep.”
