The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”For instance, details like marriage status, family background, and social relationships, do you have a grasp on all of that?”

Du Yue nodded calmly, ”Of course.”

”Before they start working here, I personally sit down and chat with them, make sure to get all the questions answered.”

”Some young women look glamorous on the outside, but if they have complicated personal relationships or unresolved troubles, how can I keep my business running?”

”So I’ve taken the time to understand the situation of each woman.”

”Not just them, but I make sure to know the details of every female employee here — it’s for everyone’s safety and for the long-term operation of the store.”

Wan noted while responding, ”Do you know that all five women are living alone without any immediate family nearby?”

Du Yue frowned, showing a slightly troubled expression, ”Well... it’s been a long time, so I can’t say I remember everything clearly.”

”But I distinctly remember Li Qian’s case— she was raised by a distant uncle, her background is quite pitiable.”

Wan immediately pursued, ”Besides you, do anyone else in the store know their real backgrounds?”

”Others? You mean other employees?”

Du Yue chuckled softly and shook her head, ”Probably not.”

”I generally require them to maintain a unified story externally, to create a ’more suitable’ identity background.”

”After all, some customers like to hear stories; they’re more likely to have sympathy for girls with pitiful backgrounds. This is also to retain customers and increase return rates.”

”So in other words,” Wan’s tone gradually intensified, ”you’re the only one who knows their true background information?”

Du Yue nodded affirmatively, ”That’s basically the case.”

”I’m the only one who knows their real situation.”

Upon hearing this, Wan’s eyes suddenly widened, his right hand raised sharply, slamming heavily on the table, ”Since you’re the only one who knows this core information — doesn’t that make you the sole suspect?!”

Upon hearing these words, Du Yue seemed rooted in place as if under a spell, freezing for a moment before tremblingly squeezing out a few words.

”What suspect?”

”I... I’ve been truthful in every word I said, not a single lie!”

.....

In the interrogation room, Jiang An was quickly thinking.

He knew well that the more complex the case, the more it requires returning to basics, starting from the most fundamental logic.

These women mostly live under assumed names and drifted backgrounds. Without deep insight, it’s exceedingly difficult to precisely grasp their ’no relatives, solitary existence’ fatal weaknesses.

This level of understanding is far beyond what ordinary relationships could achieve.

The suspect must be extremely familiar with the real background of the victims.

Secondly, the suspect must have the convenience of interacting with the victims alone, with undisturbed crime time and concealed space.

Although the foot massage parlor sees a constant stream of people, there are always surveillance blind spots and times of lax management, which the killer must have exploited nicely.

Furthermore, reviewing the criminal history, this person has committed crimes for five consecutive years without detection, showing meticulous thinking and outstanding anti-investigation abilities.

Lastly, and most crucially, from the ’killing one person annually’ pattern that seems almost ritualistic — the criminal’s psychology is severely distorted.

This doesn’t appear to be impulsive crime but more like a cyclical release of long-buried hatred, dissatisfaction, or some twisted desire.

He systematically projected his inner darkness onto these victims with specific backgrounds.

Then the issue returns to the beginning: In the complex small society of the foot massage parlor, who besides the boss can simultaneously meet all these strict conditions?”

”Is it those seemingly kind yet unpredictably minded colleagues?”

”Is it the guests coming and going with complex identities?”

”Or is it some shadow hidden even deeper, whom they haven’t yet reached?”
