The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”It seems like there’s something that shouldn’t be attached here.”

”Look closely, is there a very tiny, dark-colored nail-like foreign object here?”

Due to the early development of the photos, the pixels are limited, and when printed out, that area is even more blurry, with only a pinpoint-sized black dot.

Zhang Yean handed over a high-powered magnifier, ”It’s hard to distinguish with the naked eye, look through this.”

Jiang An took the magnifier, leaned closer to the photo, adjusted the focus and angle, and examined carefully.

In the clear field of view of the magnifier, that blurry black dot indeed revealed a more specific shape.

It was indeed a slender, somewhat irregular T-shaped metal structure.

One end seemed to be deeply embedded in the bone, but due to the limitations of light, angle, and photo resolution, it was almost completely overlooked.

”I see it!”

Jiang An said deeply and quickly turned to the attached diagrams of the forensic autopsy report, meticulously comparing the autopsy photo of the same part.

However, a strange thing happened.

In the better-shot, clearer autopsy photo, that same position on the pelvis was clean.

The bizarre T-shaped metal object vanished without a trace, leaving no sign!

The glaring contradiction between the before-and-after photos made Jiang An’s heart sink suddenly.

He looked up, eyes filled with shock and confusion, ”This thing... it’s recorded in the on-site photo, why did it disappear on the autopsy table?!”

Zhang Yean frowned, her fingers unconsciously tapping the table as she pondered, ”Mr. Jiang, from your experience, is it possible that during the transport or transfer of the body, these things accidentally fell off?”

”After all, the scene environment is complex, and it’s unavoidable to have omissions during operations.”

Jiang An folded his hands in front of him and fell into deep thought.

After a while, he slowly raised his head, ”This assumption is completely credible.”

”You have to know, this White Bone had undergone five years of natural decomposition, and the protective soft tissue on the bone surface is long gone.”

”If some foreign objects were indeed adhered to the bone, the vibrations during transport could indeed cause them to fall from the bone crevices.”

He paused, adding, ”Especially in a cavity structure like the pelvis, small objects can easily get stuck in the bone gaps, and a slight shake might cause them to drop.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yean nodded thoughtfully, ”Even if this thing does originate from the crime scene, does it really have investigative value?”

”Could it possibly be just ordinary natural debris, like dried leaf fragments or broken twigs?”

Jiang An’s eyes never left the enlarged photo, particularly the clear T-shaped structure at the back of the pelvis.

minutes later, Jiang An suddenly straightened up, his tone becoming especially grave, ”The more I look, the more I feel this object is not simple.”

”Based on its shape and location, it is very likely a female-specific item.”

”Female-specific item?”

Zhang Yean couldn’t help but lean forward, ”What exactly do you mean?”

Jiang An picked up a pen, gently comparing it on the photo, ”I suspect this may very well be a contraceptive device used by women.”

”Look at this T-shaped structural feature, and its position within the pelvic cavity, all highly coincide with the characteristics of an intrauterine device.”

He further explained, ”When a woman has an intrauterine device placed in her uterus, as the decomposition process of the body progresses, the uterine tissue gradually disintegrates, and the IUD may fall into the pelvic cavity, eventually adhering to the pelvic bone.”

”Moreover, the most common IUDs on the market are indeed this T-shaped design, mostly made of copper alloy or other corrosion-resistant metals.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yean widened her eyes abruptly, her face full of disbelief.

”Mr. Jiang, but according to the forensic identification at the time, the victim was only 22 years old when she was murdered.”

”Why would a woman of this age use an intrauterine device?”

Hearing this question, Jiang An tapped his temple lightly with his fingertips, quickly scanning through various possibilities in his mind.

After a long time, he finally said in a deep voice, ”Indeed, under regular circumstances, women of this age rarely choose this method of contraception.”

”But if we consider the needs of certain special professions, this possibility cannot be completely ruled out.”
