The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”Thank you so much for always keeping us in mind and supporting my work!”

”With you stepping up, I can finally breathe half a sigh of relief.”

”Hey, you’re still willing to call me teacher, so I have to act the part.”

Wu You laughed on the other end of the phone, his voice gentle yet strong, ”Helping students, guiding them along, isn’t that what I should do?”

”Mr. Wu, it’s truly a blessing to have you come!”

Jiang An said eagerly, ”Where are you now? I’ll arrange for the team car to pick you up immediately.”

”The case we have on hand is extremely difficult; four bodies have been found, and the time of death and crime scene are quite complex.”

”The newcomer forensic assistant is indeed lacking in experience, having you, a forensic authority, here guiding us!”

”I’ve grown old; ’authority’ is an exaggeration.”

Wu You humbly waved his hand, though the other could not see.

”You’ve just taken office, the team has a myriad of matters; you don’t have to always wear yourself out on the frontline.”

”Although my hands aren’t as strong as the young ones and my scalpel may be a little slower, looking at the results, offering advice, overseeing technical processes is still no problem.”

”That’s wonderful, Mr. Wu! Please send me your location, and we’ll send a car to pick you up immediately.”

”Okay, okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Jiang An let out a long sigh, as if the burden weighing on his shoulders for days finally had someone to share.

He raised his hand to rub his throbbing temples, his tense nerves finally relaxing a bit.

Meanwhile, on the third floor of the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau in the chemical laboratory.

Director Ma Ming was leading four chemical researchers in urgently counting, recording, and photographing two hundred-plus samples just brought in from the fire scene for archive.

The large lab table was densely packed with evidence bags of various sizes; several newly hired assistant lab technicians looked at the mountain-like pile of samples, their faces revealing shock and distress.

”Director Ma, what kind of case is this?”

A young lab technician couldn’t help but speak up, their voice full of astonishment.

”Extracting over two hundred samples from a fire scene? I’ve been working for almost ten years and have never encountered such a situation... Isn’t this over-extraction?”

Ma Ming raised his head, adjusted his glasses on his nose, and smiled, saying, ”Our new captain Jiang An works very meticulously, his criminal investigation skills are impeccable. Since he requested for such a large number of samples, there must be a reason—he’s not someone to make blind decisions.”

He glanced around at his colleagues, his tone gradually turning serious, ”This case is extraordinary; you could say it’s the first truly significant case I’ve encountered in my career.”

”The scene is complex, investigation pressure is high, our examination must be extremely cautious, and every step must be executed meticulously, without any errors.”

He walked to the lab table, casually picked up an evidence bag, and continued, ”Among these samples, even if only one shows traces of accelerants, it could become the key breakthrough in the case.”

”Each of your operations, each piece of data, each result directly impacts the investigation’s direction, and even whether the real culprit can be brought to justice.”

After a momentary pause, Ma Ming’s gaze swept over each of their faces, ”You all used to say, staying in the lab is behind the scenes work, disconnected from the frontline, hard to achieve visible results.”

”But now, the opportunity has come.”

”Captain Jiang is a leader who greatly values technology and trusts science, and his criminal investigation skills are top-notch.”

”If we can fully utilize our professional capabilities in this case, providing accurate and persuasive scientific conclusions swiftly, the leadership and the entire division will take notice.”

”So,” he slightly raised his voice, his gaze more solemn, ”please give your utmost effort to grasp this opportunity.”

”We must complete all inspection tasks in the fastest possible time while absolutely guaranteeing accuracy.”

The four lab technicians nodded in succession, the hesitation and difficulty on their faces gradually replaced by focus and determination.

Finally, Ma Ming spoke with a firm tone, ”I’ve always believed, life isn’t lacking a stage; it’s whether you know how to seize and perform on it.”

”Now, the stage is set, and the spotlight is on us.”
