The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 623: Chapter 346: Let’s Meet the Last One

”We’ve indeed found the key evidence!”

”Such insight is truly admirable.”

Meanwhile, in the criminal investigation team’s case area, the atmosphere was equally tense.

All seven suspects with prior robbery records had been brought in and were separately arranged in different interrogation rooms.

The officers responsible for the arrests reported the situation to Mr. Li.

Mr. Li couldn’t hide his surprise: ”Did we manage to detain all target individuals that quickly? Such efficiency?”

The officer reported proudly, ”We mobilized three capture teams and spent the entire day on reconnaissance.”

”Thanks to the solid foundational work we’ve done at the grassroots level, we’ve established comprehensive files on these key individuals.”

”We have dedicated personnel for regular visits and assessments to keep track of their latest movements, which allowed us to quickly pinpoint their locations.”

”I see.”

Mr. Li nodded with satisfaction and noted in his journal, ”Solid foundational work truly pays off.”

”Are all suspects in the interrogation rooms? Are all procedures complete?”

”Everything’s arranged. Seven interrogation rooms are ready to go, just waiting for your order to begin the questioning.”

Li Jian decided promptly, ”No time to lose, start the interrogation immediately!”

He glanced around at the over thirty officers present and detailed the deployment: ”We’ll divide into three interrogation teams, each equipped with a primary examiner, assistant examiner, and recorder, and conduct the interrogations simultaneously.”

”The focus is to uncover their movements during the time of the crime. Pay special attention to interrogation techniques and avoid alerting them prematurely.”

”Where were they at the time of the crime? Who can verify? What were they doing? Do they have legitimate employment? What is the source of their income?”

The officers immediately sprang into action, with six interrogation teams simultaneously questioning the seven suspects.

As time ticked away, four hours later, the interrogation of six suspects was progressively completed.

When each team emerged, their faces visibly showed disappointment.

”We’ve thoroughly checked.”

The leader of the first team removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes, reporting, ”Although they all have robbery records, their behavior after release has been genuinely good.”

”Particularly during the time of the crime, our groups’ two individuals were still serving prison sentences, with complete prison entry and exit records to prove it.”

The leader of the second team flipped through interrogation notes, adding, ”The two individuals from our group were involved only in ordinary theft cases, unrelated to robbery.”

”Moreover, they both possess alibis: one was working out of town, and the other was participating in community corrections’ vocational skills training.”

The leader of the third team pointed at the surveillance footage saying, ”From the interrogation process, the responses from the other individuals seemed natural, and micro-expression analysis revealed nothing unusual. One was at the hospital caring for his sick mother, with visitation records from the hospital; another was administratively detained for three days due to causing a disturbance while intoxicated, with records at the local police station.”

Mr. Li shook his head gently and paced back and forth in the office: ”It seems we acted somewhat hastily this time.”

”However...” He suddenly stopped, ”You mentioned bringing in seven individuals, but only six have been reported?”

”There’s still one last suspect,” an officer answered as he checked the list, ”It’s the seventh suspect on the list, Zhang Jianjun.”

”Given the situation with the first six, it’s unlikely we’ll have better luck.”

Mr. Li, however, flashed an enigmatic smile and picked up the file of the seventh suspect, examining it closely: ”How will we know without trying?”

”Let’s go meet the last one.
