Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Why are you stealing bullets?” Ning Chenyang smirked, ”I just want to assemble a gun, holding one in my hand can at least scare people, right?”

”Huh? Just to scare people, you’re assembling a gun? Aren’t you afraid your dad will find out and give you a good scolding?”

”My dad won’t find out.” Ning Chenyang said proudly with a smile, ”With so many guns, losing a couple of parts is normal, isn’t it? Besides, how would my dad know it was me who stole them? It’s no big deal!”

”Alright, alright. I’ll leave it to you then.” Wang Xiaohu said.

He thought he was quite the troublemaker, but after meeting Ning Chenyang, he truly had to admit defeat.

”Hey, do you remember what you promised He Yue?” Ning Chenyang suddenly asked.

”What promise?” Wang Xiaohu blinked.

”Didn’t you promise He Yue you’d catch that child trafficker?”

”Oh right! I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it, though later I thought it might not even be feasible...” Wang Xiaohu was having second thoughts, anyway He Yue wasn’t around, what could a kid like him accomplish.

Besides, the trafficker wouldn’t just be loitering around the streets every day waiting for him to catch them.

”Cut the crap.” Ning Chenyang whispered to Wang Xiaohu, ”Find an opportunity to get that display gun from the library, I’ll put these parts together, and we’ll have a real gun. Then, even if we run into the trafficker, we can at least scare them.”

”Are you serious?” Wang Xiaohu was startled by Ning Chenyang’s idea, ”Commander Ning, you’re not messing with me, right?”

”Of course not. We’re the kids from the compound, aren’t we? What’s the fun in leading a bunch of young kids to do petty tricks all the time? If we’re going to do something, let’s do something big, like rooting out evil for the people...”

Wang Xiaohu: ”...”

”You’re scared?” After waiting a while without hearing a response from Wang Xiaohu, Ning Chenyang chuckled softly, ”Look at you, so timid.”

”Who are you calling timid? I can’t do what you’ve asked. If my dad finds out, my butt will be in for a roasting!!!”

Wang Xiaohu was in the middle of an animated conversation with Ning Chenyang when he heard his father Wang Zhong shout, ”Wang Xiaohu, what are you doing hogging the phone? Put it down, I’m waiting for a call!”

”Okay, okay... I know.” Wang Xiaohu lowered his voice and told Ning Chenyang, ”I have to hang up now!”

”Remember what I told you. Otherwise, if He Yue comes around again, you won’t even get to see her...”

”No, no...”

Before Wang Xiaohu could finish his sentence, Ning Chenyang swiftly hung up the phone with a click.

”Hello...” Wang Xiaohu looked at the phone receiver in frustration, furrowing his brow as he thought for a while, he finally realized the difference between him and Ning Chenyang.

He was not afraid of making a scene, but Ning Chenyang wasn’t afraid of small matters!

Qin Jian finished dealing with things by past ten at night, Ning Chenyang was in his dorm room playing joyously with toys he brought himself.

”Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Qin Jian took off his military uniform and hat and said to Ning Chenyang, ”I heard your performance at the shooting range today was amazing!”

”Yeah, yeah!” Ning Chenyang jumped up from the bed when he heard his father praise him and said, ”You have no idea, I even shocked your proud Sharp Knife Camp!”
