Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

When they returned upstairs, the atmosphere in the room had changed.

Xia Lin, being perceptive, sensed something and glanced at Ji Chuan, then at Yan Huan’s kiss-swollen lips, and with a smile asked, ”Can someone explain to me, did I miss something just now?”

”This... let me explain.” Meng Qingmei took all the blame onto herself, ”Look, Ji Chuan and Yan Huan were originally lovers. But I didn’t know this! I invited you, and if I just said it straight out, I was afraid you’d overthink things. The plan was to explain it to you slowly, but look what happened...”

”Xia Lin, this matter is my fault.” Ji Chuan smiled as he wrapped Yan Huan’s hand in his, saying to her, ”Actually, I’ve already developed feelings for someone. I’ve been pursuing her for a long time. I should have told you earlier, but I had a bit of a selfish thought...”

”I understand.” Xia Lin didn’t seem to mind, not only was she not angry, she even displayed a joyful smile, ”I was wondering, clearly your eyes have someone else in them. Why would you go on a blind date with me then? Seems my judgment was spot on.”

”You’re not mad?” Yan Huan was also seeing a girl with such a big heart for the first time. If she were in her shoes, she’d be furious.

”Not mad.” Xia Lin shook her head, her mouth curved in a gentle arch as she spoke calmly, ”Actually, I also have someone I care about. It’s just that my mom doesn’t approve. He’s in another city, and if I want to be with him, I have to leave Jiangning! I’ve been fighting with my mom over this. She’s introduced countless boyfriends to me. We agreed, if this time it’s not successful, she has to let me go! So, I’m sorry... I was also forced into it, and it seems I’ve made you guys the scapegoats.”

Originally, Ji Shuanglin felt very guilty towards the girl, but hearing her say that, he breathed a sigh of relief: ”This is indeed a win-win situation!”

”That’s right! It’s all heaven’s will!” Meng Qingmei laughed as she raised her glass, ”Come on, today it’s a joyous occasion! Let’s toast to this win-win situation! To heaven’s will!”

”Come! Cheers!”

”Cheers!”

.........

In the slightly tipsy night breeze, Yan Huan and Ji Chuan walked hand in hand along the path.

Looking up, the stars were exceptionally bright tonight.

”Ji Chuan.”

”Hmm?”

”Thank you.” Yan Huan stopped, looking at him with a sweet smile, ”You’ve let me taste the flavor of love!”

So happy, so intoxicating!

For the first time, she realized that kissing a man she loved could evoke such strong feelings.

She used to frequently see Qin Jian holding An Hao’s hand, expressing their relationship openly, and she always felt a tinge of envy with a bit of bitterness.

Now, she finally understood how indescribably wonderful this feeling was.

When Ji Chuan held her waist and announced to the neighbors that she was his wife, she felt like she owned the whole world.

Her heart was filled to the brim with this exciting and beautiful emotion.

Thank you, Ji Chuan, for letting her know that love not only brings tears and pain, but also beauty...

”Since you’re thankful, then kiss me.” Ji Chuan smiled as he leaned closer, pointing to his lips, ”I still haven’t had enough of this wonderful taste.”
