Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

The four children were brought back to the compound.

At the entrance of the compound, Ning Chenyang saw Yan Huan waiting there for him.

”Godmother!” he called out, speaking to the company commander of the guard regiment, ”Uncle Ma, please let me down, my godmother is waiting for me.”

Commander Ma put Ning Chenyang down from the vehicle and then said to Yan Huan, ”Are you his godmother? Please tell his parents later to pay more attention in the future. There are all sorts of people outside the compound. If the children accidentally run out, they could face great danger.”

”I’ve heard. Don’t worry, although I’m not his biological mother, I can educate him the same way his real mother would. I can even be very strict,” Yan Huan said, glaring fiercely at Ning Chenyang.

”That’s good.” Commander Ma, still feeling lingering fear from today’s events, said, ”You don’t know, they encountered human traffickers today. Fortunately, we teamed up with the police to chase the culprits, otherwise who knows what might have happened.”

”Human traffickers?” Yan Huan’s mind buzzed, ”Thank you, I’ll definitely discipline him on behalf of his parents.”

Yan Huan led Ning Chenyang home, maintaining a stern expression without speaking as they walked.

”Godmother?” Ning Chenyang called for Yan Huan.

Yan Huan ignored him.

It wasn’t until they got home that Yan Huan sat down to educate him.

”Yangyang, what did you do today? You sure have some nerve! Your parents aren’t home, are you trying to be a little menace?”

It was Ning Chenyang’s first time seeing Yan Huan so serious, and he felt somewhat uneasy. Scratching the back of his head, he muttered softly, ”I just thought it would be fun!”

”Fun? How old are you? You even dared to drive and bring other kids along for fun. Playing in the compound is one thing, but you dared to take them outside! Do you know how dangerous the world is out there?” Yan Huan frowned, educating Ning Chenyang earnestly, ”Do you have any idea? If not for Uncle Ma and the police today, where could you have ended up being sold by human traffickers?”

”I know,” Ning Chenyang raised his head and replied.

”What do you know?” Yan Huan sighed and told him solemnly about her own childhood, ”Did you know that I was kidnapped by human traffickers when I was young? Fortunately, I made it back.”

Unfortunately, she’s never been able to escape the psychological shadow all these years.

Even if she chose to forget, it brought her a peculiar illness.

”I know too,” Ning Chenyang’s quick little mind was sharp. Initially, he thought Yan Huan was merely scared by the old man, but hearing Yan Huan’s story, he completely understood, ”Was the one who kidnapped you that scar-faced old man?”

Yan Huan was taken aback: ”How do you know?”

”Because, I went to see that old man perform magic tricks. As a result, two kids almost got kidnapped!” Ning Chenyang lowered his head, feeling deeply troubled inside.

He hadn’t meant it.

Having caused such an incident, he was very saddened.

”Did the police catch him?” Yan Huan asked excitedly.

She couldn’t remember much from her childhood, forgot even how she escaped.

Thus, she also forgot if this human trafficker had ever been caught.

Now, she finally knew this man was a trafficker.

She deeply cared whether this harm-causing trafficker had been apprehended.
