Chapter 2437: Chapter 2430: Thief

Yan Huan changed into casual clothes, got off the unit bus, and headed to the PLA Affiliated Hospital.

Ji Chuan called her and said that his friend from the United States would be coming tonight, and he is a highly experienced doctor who will help her recover.

Since Ji Chuan made the effort to invite a friend from across the ocean, Yan Huan had no reason not to come.

The afternoon sunshine of late spring was lazy and warm, and Yan Huan sat near the bus window, drifting off to sleep.

Suddenly, a voice with an odd accent spoke in stiff Mandarin: ”Hey, sir! Could you please move away a bit? You’re practically leaning on me.”

Yan Huan opened her drowsy eyes and looked toward the source of the voice, seeing a blonde, blue-eyed foreigner helplessly staring at a small-sized man next to him.

”I’m sorry! I’m sorry! The bus is too shaky, I didn’t mean it.” The small man apologized repeatedly, in a good manner.

”Alright, I’ll forgive you! Please be more careful!”

Yan Huan gave the small man a second glance, noticing he was holding onto the handle with one hand, while the other hand was always tucked in his pocket.

His expression was somewhat peculiar, and when his gaze met Yan Huan’s, he frowned and glared at her.

Yan Huan withdrew her gaze and closed her eyes once more.

”Glory Road stop is coming up, passengers preparing to get off please be ready!” The conductor announced with a loudspeaker.

As soon as the bus reached the stop, the small man squeezed to the front and jumped off the bus in a flash.

”How rude!”

”Exactly! What a disgrace in front of the foreigner!”

The foreigner also seemed dissatisfied with the small man, shaking his head helplessly.

Suddenly someone on the bus shouted: ”Oh no, my wallet is gone! Who stole my wallet?”

The foreigner also realized something and hurriedly checked his pockets. After confirming he didn’t lose anything there, he removed his backpack and found a slim knife cut along the side.

”Thief! There’s a thief!”

Yan Huan’s drowsiness vanished instantly, and she pictured the small man’s expression in her mind.

No wonder he looked strange; his expression had been guilty all along.

”That small man is the thief!” the foreigner yelled, ”Driver, stop! I need to chase the thief!”

He didn’t just lose his wallet; his passport and visa were also gone, and without those, he’d have a hard time proving his identity.

This will be extremely challenging.

The other passengers who lost their wallets also started urging the bus driver to stop.

The bus stopped, and the foreigner quickly got off. Meanwhile, Yan Huan jumped out from the open bus window, sprinting in the direction the thief left.

”Catch the thief! Catch the thief!” Everyone who got off the bus followed Yan Huan to chase the thief.

The small man was standing under a tree shade, counting his spoils for the day, when he heard calls to catch him.

He immediately started running.

While running, he kept looking back, only to see a woman running toward him like a gust of wind.

”You can’t escape! Leave the stuff!” Yan Huan shouted relentlessly in pursuit.

After all these years in the unit, where every morning involved routine runs, short and long-distance running were daily practices for her.
