Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2334: Chapter 2327: Making a Mountain Out of a Molehill

Yan Huan was holding a pen, buried in organizing the notes from today’s interview when she heard Cheng Yue’s voice outside the tent: ”Yan Huan, can I come in?”

”Come in.” Yan Huan closed her notebook and looked up just in time to see Cheng Yue entering with a bottle of medicine in hand.

”I’m here to disinfect your wound and check on it,” Cheng Yue said.

”It’s much better now. Thank you! Just leave the antiseptic; I’ll do it myself!” Yan Huan felt it was a bit awkward letting Cheng Yue hold her leg to apply the medicine.

Besides, Qiu Xinyi was also in the tent, and if she saw this, with her big mouth, who knows how she’d spread the word.

Yan Huan reached out to take the medicine from Cheng Yue, but he didn’t hand it over.

”Come on, roll up your pant leg, let me do it!”

”Ahem! Are you two pretending I’m not in this tent? Watch out for your behavior!” Qiu Xinyi coughed twice, teasingly reminding them.

Yan Huan was about the same age, but how come she had so many admirers?

Besides, they were younger.

Although there were quite a few people pursuing her, they were all after her father, Colonel Qiu’s rank. Such people didn’t interest her, Qiu Xinyi thought.

”My comrade’s leg is injured! I’m just helping a comrade with her wound! What’s the issue? Besides, I’m a doctor!” Cheng Yue said, adding, ”Hmm, she might even become my girlfriend in the future!”

Hearing this, a light bulb went off in Qiu Xinyi’s mind. Suddenly, she understood something.

”Alright, I’ll leave you to it!” she said with a mischievous smile.

”Thank you.” Without another word, Cheng Yue lifted Yan Huan’s leg and rolled up her pant leg, bending down to check the wound, ”It’s much better; the wound has scabbed, and there’s no redness or pus around. You can rest easy now.”

”It wasn’t a big deal to begin with. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill!”

”How could I be exaggerating? I care about you. If it were someone else, I wouldn’t be bothered!” Cheng Yue raised his eyebrows, looking at Yan Huan.

”Are you just making excuses to get close to me?” Yan Huan had long understood Cheng Yue’s intentions.

Cheng Yue’s gaze lingered on Yan Huan’s face as he seriously said, ”You could think of it that way. No matter how you see it, it’s because I still have feelings for you! All these years, you’ve been in my heart. Yan Huan, after I get back this time, I’ll call home and come clean to my parents about this, and I’ll talk to Shen Qiqi too! I just ask you, until I’ve handled everything, please don’t be swayed by another man.”

”You...really want to be with me?” Yan Huan was moved by Cheng Yue’s sincere words.

”Of course. Why else would I return? I want to make up for what I owed you back then. Yan Huan, haven’t you ever wondered why you haven’t married in four years? Or why I haven’t married in four years? Perhaps it’s fate, leading us back to make up for our past mistakes! Our connection shouldn’t end like that.” Cheng Yue said, half-kneeling in front of Yan Huan, as if pledging a vow.

”Do you really think so?”

”Yes. Please give me a chance.”

All these years, Yan Huan hadn’t remained single because she didn’t want to marry, but because she occasionally thought of that young, spirited boy. Countless times, deep into the night, she had wondered if one day Cheng Yue would return to reconcile with her.

And now that day had come, Yan Huan found herself hesitating.

Her heart was in turmoil, and when she closed her eyes, Ji Chuan’s slightly helpless, affectionate eyes flashed in her mind...
