Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2328: Chapter 2321: Comrade Lao Qin, Well Done!

”Of course.”

An Hao carefully opened the gift box, where a sky-blue silk scarf lay quietly. ”Wow! It’s so beautiful! This must not be cheap, right?”

”It’s alright,” Ji Chuan smiled, ”I wonder if Yan Huan will like it. The spring winds are strong, so I thought of giving her a gift that’s both beautiful and practical.”

”It’s a great choice,” An Hao praised repeatedly. ”But, Yan Huan likes red! Remember, whenever you give her scarves or clothes in the future, just buy red! The brighter the red, the more she’ll love it.”

”Thank you for the advice, Dr. An! I hope you’ll continue to give me tips in the future, and I will certainly make sure to thank you properly!” Ji Chuan made a gesture of bowing like the ancients.

”You’re welcome, you’re welcome.”

.....................

An Hao returned home and immediately started packing her luggage.

Qin Jian finished his meeting early today because there weren’t many issues in the battalion, so he came back early. He bought some groceries from the market, including two fish, intending to learn how to cook a dinner for his wife.

When he reached the building entrance, he noticed it was getting late, so he said to Xiaozhou, ”Go to the kindergarten and pick up my two little rascals!”

”Yes, Commander!”

Qin Jian carried the fish and groceries upstairs. As soon as he opened the door, he heard some noise inside.

He went straight to the bedroom and saw An Hao rummaging through and organizing things. ”You’re back quite early today?”

An Hao was taking a stack of clothes out of the closet. She saw what Qin Jian was carrying and nodded approvingly. ”Comrade Lao Qin, you’re doing quite well! You even thought of coming back early to cook for me!”

”Thanks for the compliment, wife! It’s just that I’m always at the battalion and can’t come back often, so you have to handle everything at home, which is really tough!” Qin Jian said.

”Hmm, not bad! You even know how to care for me!” An Hao said with a smile.

”Of course. Given how well I’m doing, shouldn’t I get some reward?” Qin Jian turned his face, hinting to An Hao.

”Tsk,” An Hao smirked and laughed, but still leaned in and gave Qin Jian a kiss on the cheek. ”Good boy, go cook!”

”Yes ma’am!” With a sweet kiss from his wife, Qin Jian happily turned to go to the kitchen. Suddenly, he remembered that An Hao was packing her suitcase, so he turned back and asked, ”Why are you suddenly packing? Going for training?”

”No. It’s because the hospital is organizing a countryside medical mission. Dr. Zhu, who was supposed to go, had a family emergency as her elderly family member passed away, and she needed to attend the funeral. The hospital has temporarily assigned me to take her place.” An Hao packed her suitcase full and then zipped it up.

”When are you leaving?” Qin Jian frowned and asked.

”Leaving tomorrow morning.”

”So soon? What about the two kids?” Qin Jian was a bit worried. ”My parents are in the wellness center, one with high blood pressure, the other with heart disease...”

”Let’s not disturb them. Let them rest well there!”

”I can’t come home from the battalion every day.”

”Anyway, the kindergarten classes aren’t many, if necessary, just bring them to the battalion. Doesn’t the battalion also have a kindergarten? Just make do for a few days.”

”Guess that’s the only way.” At least they’d be with him.

”These few days will be tough on you,” An Hao looked at her husband apologetically. Since he became the battalion commander, he’s been incredibly busy, and now with the added responsibility of childcare, it’s really not an easy task.
