Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2318: Chapter 2311: Save My Old Man

”Tch!” Qiu Xinyi pouted, ”Look at that temper, isn’t it just a joke? Is it really that serious?”

”Try to make fewer jokes like that in the future. It makes people uncomfortable to hear! Big sis, aren’t you a bit old to be talking so carelessly?” Cheng Yue tossed back at her, turning away.

”Hey! Who are you calling big sis? Hearing that really pisses me off!” Qiu Xinyi stomped twice in frustration as she left.

The PLA Affiliated Hospital’s tents were set up quite close to the army’s tents.

The two places were less than twenty meters apart.

However, both sides were busy preparing for the next day’s work, hanging banners, putting up slogans, and getting ready for the medical supplies needed for the following day’s visits, so Cheng Yue and Yan Huan didn’t have much chance to talk.

The next day was a beautiful, sunny day.

The villagers of Hanshan Village lined up to see the doctors, many of the elderly carrying old ailments from their younger days, difficult to treat due to a lack of medical resources. They seized the chance for treatment from the army hospital’s rural outreach effort.

It was only the first day, and both sides were already too busy to handle everything.

Yan Huan and Qiu Xinyi’s task was to interview, delve into the lives of the people, and write about their hardships, explaining how our army warriors were helping them solve problems.

This was positive publicity for our team and also set a good example for all the soldiers.

”Yan Huan, since the captain wants us to make a joint report, let’s split up. You go and dive into the stories of the locals, and I’ll write about how the PLA solves them,” Qiu Xinyi said.

”Better not. Let’s just write our own parts separately.” Yan Huan didn’t want to work with her to avoid unnecessary friction.

Since it’s a report, it needs to be comprehensive.

It must reflect the real situation in Hanshan Village.

Yan Huan weaved through the busy scene with a camera around her neck, looking for the right interview subject.

At this moment, a woman in her fifties hurriedly came running through the crowd, panting heavily, ”Comrade PLA! Comrade PLA! Please save my husband!”

She was flushed with urgency, and the fellow villagers, seeing her distress, made way for her to see the doctors first.

”Ma’am, what happened? Please speak slowly, don’t rush!” the medic soldiers asked.

”My husband was building the courtyard wall at home, and he accidentally fell from the wooden scaffold!” The elderly lady spoke too quickly and ended up choking on her own saliva.

”Is his leg injured? Any bone issues?” a soldier quickly asked.

”No... no... the bone’s fine, but his leg got cut by a nail... Oh dear... there’s a deep gash! You can see the raw flesh inside the leg, and it won’t stop bleeding... It seems even the vessel is broken.”

”That’s serious!”

”Yes! Comrade PLA, please hurry and take a look!”

The medic squad usually provides basic medical aid, like administering injections and IVs, and handles minor surgeries like stitching.

However, their precision and finesse might be lacking.

”Anyone available to go with the lady to check?” the squad leader called out loudly.

At this moment, a soldier said, ”Leader, there are professional surgeons over at the affiliated hospital!”

”Ma’am, you can go check over there! Go to the tents and find a surgeon!” the squad leader advised.
