Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2301: Chapter 2294: You Didn’t Do Anything Wrong

Shen Qiqi stood upstairs, having long taken in this scene.

Seeing Cheng Yue look so lost, Shen Qiqi felt both hurt and angry. The love she had always wanted she couldn’t get. His deep feelings were given to another, and yet, that person discarded them like worn-out shoes.

Well, that’s good.

Precisely because the other discarded them like worn-out shoes, she now had more opportunities. It seems she really should thank Yan Huan.

”Qiqi, what are you doing here? The patient in bed thirteen needs a change of fluid, aren’t you going to hurry up and do it?” Nurse Li Ying saw her staring blankly out the window and called out to her.

”Sister Ying. Could you help me out, please? I have something to attend to downstairs, could you cover for me for a little while?” Shen Qiqi turned around, requesting.

”I’m about to get off my shift.”

”I know. I’ll treat you to something delicious later.” Shen Qiqi patted her shoulder and bounced downstairs.

Cheng Yue sat on the railing, looking down at the ground as he calmed his emotions.

Shen Qiqi walked over and gently patted his shoulder: ”I saw it all from upstairs just now, she rejected you. That old lady is her mother, right? It seems she doesn’t like you very much.”

”Yes. After all, I hurt her daughter.” Cheng Yue sighed.

”What? You call that hurt?” Shen Qiqi felt wronged on Cheng Yue’s behalf, ”Brother Cheng Yue, you didn’t do anything wrong. Cheng Yu left early; you’re the only son your father and mother have left, shouldn’t you stay by their side? I think she doesn’t truly love you, if she did, why couldn’t she come to Jiangning? She was the one who broke up with you first, so why’s she acting like the victim now?”

”Her health isn’t very good. I heard from Teacher Yan that she can’t leave Nancheng, or else her asthma would act up incessantly.” If not for this, they probably would have been married by now, right?

”Huh? Such a strange illness?” Shen Qiqi couldn’t believe it at all.

”I haven’t heard of it either. But there are many unsolved mysteries in science; even if such an illness exists, it’s nothing surprising.” Cheng Yue believed Yan Huan loved him, so he never doubted Yan Huan would lie.

”Listen to you, they’re all so bad to you, yet you still take their side.” Shen Qiqi pouted, visibly unsatisfied, ”If only you had that attitude towards me, I definitely wouldn’t let you down!”

”Matters of the heart cannot be forced.” Cheng Yue stood up, ”Qiqi, I only have sibling-like feelings for you, not romantic ones.”

”I don’t care. Anyway, you promised to take care of me, so I’ll keep following you. I just refuse to believe it, I, Shen Qiqi, have looks, have a job, how am I worse than that old woman.” Shen Qiqi stubbornly said.

”She’s not old at all. You’re not allowed to call her old anymore!” Cheng Yue didn’t like to hear such words.

”Old! She’s old! She’s just an old woman!”

”Suit yourself. I’m leaving.” Cheng Yue ended the conversation with Shen Qiqi and went upstairs alone.

Yan Huan didn’t return to the base. Instead, she bought some snacks and toys that children love and went to An Hao’s place.

As it happened, her timing was just right, coinciding with a meal at An Hao’s home.

”I’m really lucky.” Yan Huan said as she carried things through the door and saw the abundant lunch spread on the table, ”I understand now why Commander Qin married you, he’s really fortunate! No wonder he couldn’t care less about me back then!”

”Why are you here? What a rare guest! Come in and eat with us, we just started!” Qin Jian got up and went to the kitchen to add another set of dishes and chopsticks for Yan Huan.
