Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2197: Chapter 2192: You Can’t Go Back on Your Word

Yuan Yunong bit her lip and said nothing, clearly very dissatisfied in her heart.

Hua Jin looked down at the time on his watch, exactly ten minutes had passed, and the coffee from the coffee guy was still not ready.

”Do you have anything else to say? If not, I’m leaving!” Hua Jin stood up, straightened his white shirt and was about to leave, when he heard the resentful voice of Yuan Yunong.

”Hua Jin, tell me, if I help you find that genius child now, will you come back with me right away?”

Hua Jin paused and said, ”Find him for me first, then we’ll talk!”

The coffee guy brought the coffee over and saw Hua Jin was about to leave: ”Won’t you stay a bit longer? Your coffee is here!”

”No. You can have it.” Hua Jin said and walked forward.

Yuan Yunong bit her lower lip, tears silently slid down her cheeks. She hated this unreasonable side of Hua Jin.

”Hei Mei! You’re crying?” The sharp-eyed coffee guy noticed her tears, very surprised, as in his impression, Hei Mei was a woman who rarely cried.

”Is it any of your business? Got sand in my eyes, a few tears, is it any of your business?” Yuan Yunong said, tears flowing even more freely.

Hua Jin stopped in his tracks, turned back, and saw Hei Mei, helplessly crying at the table, his heart softened: ”Don’t cry!”

Yuan Yunong didn’t expect Hua Jin to come back, raised her head in surprise, tears still gently flowing down her face: ”Why... didn’t you leave?”

”Was I too harsh on you?” Hua Jin sat down, gently patted Yuan Yunong, sighed helplessly, ”You can’t be like this all the time! You have to know that failing the task is not the worst thing! But sometimes, failing the task can mean losing your life. I don’t want, after all the hardships you’ve been through, for you to reveal a flaw because you can’t control your emotions. Once caught, you’re done! Do you understand?”

Yuan Yunong listened to Hua Jin’s gentle tone, her heart warmed, like spring wind dispersing the clouds, suddenly it was clear after the rain: ”Are you truly worried about me?”

”Of course. We’ve gone through such brutal training together, barely made it through! The days waiting for us are still long! Are you really being this impulsive during the mission just to spite me?” Hua Jin looked into her eyes and said.

Yuan Yunong wiped her tears, leaned into Hua Jin’s embrace.

This time, Hua Jin didn’t push her away, instead he raised his hand to hold her, giving her a kind of comfort: ”You must promise me! You have to take this task seriously! You know your situation better than anyone else! You’re deep inside the military zone! I don’t need to analyze it for you, do I? You know better than anyone! As long as you can complete the task excellently, we’ll leave!”

”Really?” Yuan Yunong looked up joyfully at Hua Jin and said, ”You’ve promised, you can’t go back on it!”

”Of course! Everything for the sake of the overall situation!”

”That’s great.” The stuffy feeling Yuan Yunong had was immediately gone, ”I promise you, I’ll complete the task well!”

”Good.” Hua Jin saw her mood was finally right, and then showed a satisfied smile, ”Great! This is the right attitude! But, if you really think the current environment is stifling, I can help you change it.”
