Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2145: Chapter 2140: The Secret Intelligence Organization

”Great! That’s perfect! I’ll be sure to seek your guidance on academic matters in the future, Dr. Hua!” Dr. Lu said eagerly.

”Hua Jin! Please call me Hua Jin!”

”Lu Junru!”

”Alright!”

That evening, after finishing her evening routine, An Hao lay on the bed and called home.

The phone rang three times, and Qin Jian answered.

”Sweetheart... I’ve been waiting so long for your call! How was it? Did you gain anything from the lecture today?”

”Yes. I had an unexpected gain!” An Hao replied.

”Unexpected? Tell me about it! What counts as an unexpected gain?” Qin Jian asked.

”The person who gave us the academic lecture today is actually connected to Hou Zicheng! According to him, he met Hou Zicheng when he performed heart surgery on him while in the United States! So that’s how they know each other! Why don’t you find a chance to see if Hou Zicheng has a scar on his chest? If we can confirm that, I can determine Hua Jin’s identity as well! Oh, right, he’s also from Nancheng City. Can you check his household registration?”

”Alright.” Qin Jian agreed, ”However, we can’t just rely on this to prove whether this person isn’t lying! Here’s what you do, get Yan Ye to help out as well. He studied abroad and knows quite a few doctors. Through various connections, he might be able to find Hou Zicheng’s medical records abroad?”

”Alright. I’ll have Yan Ye investigate! But this seems to be a bit difficult!”

”Difficult, but that’s alright! If Hua Jin also has a questionable identity, things would really get interesting!” Qin Jian said while shuffling through the documents he had on hand, ”I just obtained some latest materials from the National Security Bureau. Can you guess what these materials are related to?”

”Related to what? Could it be espionage?” An Hao guessed randomly.

”That’s right. After Hong Mei was executed, the National Security Bureau gathered some materials! It’s about the organization Hong Mei was part of! It’s a specialized intelligence organization. This organization is very clandestine, and it’s unclear where it’s hidden. Yet, almost every member of this organization is a master of espionage! They are spread all over the world, carrying out different tasks every day! They have a large number of members! They all have a common characteristic, which is serving this organization! Hong Mei was one of them!” Qin Jian explained to An Hao.

This information was not easy to come by, and if it weren’t for Hong Mei’s appearance, they might not have been able to uncover some aspects related to this organization.

However, for such a vast espionage organization, this was just the tip of the iceberg.

Even so, Qin Jian knew that this organization never served any single country; their devotion was to money.

This intelligence organization not only steals military secrets but also includes commercial secrets, secrets of national resources, and these secrets would be sold internationally, to whoever pays them.

After hearing Qin Jian’s words, An Hao truly felt she might have gotten herself surrounded by layers and layers of intrigue. Just dealing with Yuan Yunong was already a headache, hopefully not one more person.

Someone like Hua Jin, such an outstanding doctor, deep down in her heart, she really hoped he wouldn’t belong to some organization as a spy.

If that were the case, that would truly be a pity.
