Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2055: Chapter 2048: What Do You Want Me to Help With?

”I came over to check on you and bring you some things.” Lin Qiushu opened her bag and took out two cans of coffee, placing them in front of An Hao. ”I know sometimes you stay up late! A little coffee can help keep you alert!”

”So thoughtful? Then I won’t be polite!” An Hao accepted the coffee, went to the kitchen to wash some fruit, and brought it out. ”Why haven’t I seen you these past few days? I looked for you the other day!”

”I heard! So I came to find you as soon as I got back!”

”As soon as you got back? So you haven’t been in Nancheng these past few days?” An Hao asked casually.

”Yeah! I went abroad! You know, my grandmother’s health isn’t good! In the past, my family couldn’t refuse her when she wanted to search for relatives, so they allowed her to come with me to the mainland. Now that the relatives have been found, my grandfather and uncle refuse to let her come over! She often misses me, so I go abroad every so often.”

Lin Qiushu explained to her.

”How is Auntie’s health?”

”She’s doing okay now. The surgery you and Yan Ye did for her was quite successful.”

”That’s good to hear.”

”By the way, what did you want to talk to me about?” Lin Qiushu asked.

”Qin Jian was taken away by the national security agents. Did you hear about it since you came back?” An Hao said in a low voice.

”I heard! This is impossible! Why would national security investigate my brother?” In Lin Qiushu’s view, it was simply an unbelievable situation.

”They suspect him of being a spy! They suspect he’s involved with the data leak!”

”What? A spy! Is there anything more ridiculous than this? It’s absolutely laughable!” Lin Qiushu exaggeratedly said, ”How are they conducting their investigation over there! Anyone with an ounce of sense can see it’s not possible! My brother has a promising future and achieved so much at a young age! Moreover, our uncle is a commander in the military district! Why would he become a spy?”

”Exactly! You’re absolutely right! The officials also think so! However, the secrets were leaked from his hands! All the evidence points to him, and I don’t know how the investigation is going now. But based on the information I have, I think Qin Jian is really in big trouble this time.” An Hao sighed deeply, a layer of worry covering her brows.

”Did you come to me hoping I could help in some way?” Lin Qiushu was very perceptive and guessed An Hao’s intention immediately.

”I wanted to know about the situation on that day! And I believe the national security will likely want to investigate you too!” An Hao said.

”Okay.” Lin Qiushu briefly recalled the events of that day and explained everything to An Hao exactly as it happened.

When An Hao heard her mention the backpack, she repeatedly asked, ”Qiushu, think carefully! Did the messenger bag Qin Jian was carrying ever leave your sight?”

”No!” Lin Qiushu said with absolute certainty, ”I remember clearly, when the accident happened, I was at the scene. When I arrived, the traffic police had already rescued my brother from the car. I was at the scene the entire time, watching him. Later, the police retrieved a messenger bag from the car. I held onto that messenger bag, and in the ambulance, I felt it was bulky, so I opened it and had a look. It was a file folder with ’Top Secret’ written on it! After that, I didn’t look at it again!”

”Are you sure?”
