Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 2002: Chapter 1995: Confidential Mission

In the commander’s office, besides himself, there were two strangers.

Out of habit, Qin Jian glanced at their military ranks; one was a colonel and the other, like him, was a lieutenant colonel.

“Let me introduce you, these are two comrades from the ordnance department, mainly responsible for weapons research! One is Group Leader Zhang, and the other is Deputy Group Leader Li.” After introducing them, Commander Guan introduced his own people, “This is Master Zhang, and this is Commander Qin of the Armored Infantry Regiment!”

The four exchanged military salutes and greeted each other.

Commander Guan got straight to the point: “In recent years, our country’s military power is on the rise. Now, all countries are engaged in an arms race. We have developed a new type of weapon, code-named Zero. It will likely play a crucial role on future battlefields! This weapon has already been developed!”

“It’s actually already developed!” Qin Jian said in surprise.

They had previously learned through leaked secrets that the ordnance department was researching such a weapon.

But they did not know the specific details.

This was absolutely confidential.

“Yes. We are very pleased; this time we have made a breakthrough, and one new technological application has already surpassed other countries,” introduced Group Leader Zhang.

“The group leader is right, and now this weapon is already in the first batch of production. But this is just a trial!” Deputy Group Leader Li added.

“So what do the two leaders mean by coming here?” Qin Jian seemed to have vaguely guessed.

“You two go ahead and give them a thorough introduction. Whatever you need our cooperation on, just say the word,” Commander Guan stated.

“Alright. A batch of this weapon has already been produced. But the birth of a new weapon involves more than just creating it from design blueprints. We need repetitive trials, lots of data to optimize our weapon further.

In short, we want you to trial them. Record these trial experiences with the weapons.

In the future, this data will be extensively used and is extremely valuable information.

We will discover problems and correct them from this data,” explained Group Leader Zhang.

“But why us?” Among so many teams, choosing Qin Jian, he was indeed a bit surprised.

“The legendary figure of the North! The military district’s competition champion! You’ve been on the battlefield, and you’re thoroughly familiar with guns and equipment. Do you think there’s anyone more suitable than you? We need people like you to help us discover problems and even provide constructive suggestions!” Deputy Group Leader Li added.

“I understand.” Zhang Jianguo said, “Does the leadership intend to assign this task to us?”

“That’s my idea,” Commander Guan said with a smile, “But it was Commander Qin who was selected.”

“Thank you for the leadership’s trust in us!” Qin Jian stood at attention and saluted, “We will do everything we can to complete the task.”

“I believe you will complete the task! I also have great confidence in my own judgment!” Group Leader Zhang said, “But remember, everyone, keep this matter confidential! It absolutely must not be leaked! If the secret gets out, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

“The current situation is very severe, spies from various countries are coming upon hearing the news, and last month the National Security Bureau arrested quite a few…” Deputy Group Leader Li expressed deep concern about the current environment.
